Description
(Parlophone R5084 UK 7" Single 1963)
This is a 1963 UK 1st pressing 7" Single in great overall condition! Playback is superb too! This is the very rare UK "Oriole Records" Contract Pressing from 1963. This copy has a Solid Centre too. These, as stated, are extremely rare!
The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has black & silver "Parlophone" paper labels. These have a solid centre. The labels have "The Parlophone Co..." and "Recording First..." texts. There are three tiny company bumps at the spindle hole area, under the labels, on both sides. These tiny bumps are in the identical position on both labels. This seems to indicate an "Oriole contract pressing" from a certain UK pressing plant. There is no embossed company "KT" tax code around the spindle hole on either side.
The record has 1st press 7XCE 17559-1N and 7XCE 17560-1N matrix numbers. These are machine stamped in the dead wax. The mother stampers are GDG 15 and LA 10 respectively. "KT" is machine stamped in the dead wax on both sides also. This single comes complete with its original generic green & white Parlophone company paper sleeve. The sleeve has straight top opening edges.
This is a genuine 1963 UK Oriole Contract Pressing. This is the rarest UK contract pressing variation with "Solid labels". Obviously, this single was released at the very pinnacle of "Beatlemania" in the UK. EMI's normal pressing plants just could not keep up with the unprecedented demand for this new Beatles single. Therefore, there are several contract pressing variants of this single. However, the Oriole solid centre contract pressing seems to be the hardest to find in the UK. It is interesting that it has 3 tiny bumps at the spine hole area. This is in the same place on both labels. As stated, these bumps are under the labels. They seem to indicate a certain UK pressing plant used by Oriole, or possibly Pye, I believe.
This Oriole UK contract pressing with a solid centre is also the most distinctive of the contract pressing variants of this single. It is quite distinct from standard "Parlophone" EMI pressings of this single. These would always have a 4 pronged centre, as would all the other UK contract pressing variants of this single. Don't underestimate how rare these are! They seldom turn up for sale! So hard to find in this great overall condition too! I have some other rare & collectible Beatles & Related UK Original LP's and 7" Singles for sale too. Please see my other listings.
Vinyl: There are two extremely light 3cm hairline surface paper sleeve rub marks on the A-side. These are barely visible under a strong light. There is an extremely 3.5cm surface paper sleeve rub mark on the B-side. This, again, is barely visible under a strong light. Otherwise, there are some light, very mild or very minor surface sleeve rubs which are barely visible under a strong light. The original paper sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor feint, or dull, surface marks on a few areas. These, again, are barely visible under a strong light. Overall, this single is in Very NEAR EXCELLENT condition. The Labels are in Excellent condition and shows light or very mild spindle wear only.
The original Parlophone company paper sleeve is in Very Good++ condition. There is some light, very mild or very minor ringwear, faded & creasing. There are the remnants of a small sticker in the top right corner of the front of the paper sleeve. There are no seam splits.
I have play tested this single in its entirety & it plays Excellent+ to Near Perfect overall, & Perfect in many places! There are no clicks or pops. A top audio copy!
I shall place the vinyl into a separate plain paper sleeve. This will protect the original paper sleeve from any damage during the shipping process.
Traceable insurance is already included in the stated P&P price for this listing.
Discount is given on P&P for multiple purchases. I shall always weigh combined purchases to get a completely accurate price. So please wait for the invoice to be sent before paying. Please see below for a more detailed description.
MINT Condition = A perfect copy! Almost impossible to find like this.
NEAR MINT Condition = Very nearly mint just slightly under, There may be a very few, very light paper surface sleeve rubs that can hardly be seen under strong light. This disc has been played a couple of times at most. The sleeve is virtually perfect - there is very minimal wear only.
EXCELLENT Condition = A clean & tidy copy that shows minimal defects. There will be light, very mild or very minor surface sleeve rubs. There will be no scratches. The cover will be very nice & clean with maybe minimal creasing, ringwear or edge rubbing wear etc...
NEAR EXCELLENT Condition = You can tell this record has been played a few times, but it has been well cared for. There will be minor surface marks only. The sleeve may have light, mild or very mild creasing, ringwear & very mild rubbing wear to the edges etc.... Overall, it will be a very serviceable copy that you will be pleased with.
Very Good Condition = A well played but very decent overall copy. There will be a few marks on the vinyl, but they won't be nasty scratches, just relatively light needle scuffs and sleeve removal marks, they will be noticeable but won't detract from play too much. Cover will show signs of storage/ ageing, e.g., creasing, slight folding, spinewear, ringwear or sticker tears etc... The record will not be trashed!!
Please note that I also use "+" or "-" symbols for this grading. A plus symbol is obviously at the top end of "Very Good" & is really not far from being in "near excellent" condition. The minus symbol obviously means it is at the lower end. This will mean that it is near to being in "Good+" condition.
>> Postage Rates
AN INVOICE WILL BE SENT TO YOU VERY SOON AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS. PLEASE WAIT FOR THIS BEFORE PAYING.
(Please note that these prices include packaging costs too)
Double LPs are classed as two LPs. Also gatefold sleeves, posters, inserts, etc.. can increase postage costs.
Please note that there are now VAT import charges from the UK into all EU countries. Anything under 150 Euros will need an IOSS number. VAT is paid at point of sale. For any items over 150 Euros in value. There will be a customs charge too. These vary, I believe, from country to country. Please check your relevant postal service online for details. Please note that these charges are beyond my control and are the law for outside parcels going into the EU.
All records will be sent in high quality vinyl box/ mailers with at least two card stiffeners either side of the LP or 7" Single. I use a cruciform box for larger orders (3-6 LPs). All parcels will be marked "Fragile" and dispatch time will generally be between 1-3 days after payment.
I will also remove the vinyl from the sleeve & place them in a re-sealable polythene sleeve. In order to prevent seam splits. Depending on the inner sleeve; I often remove the vinyl from the inner sleeve & place it in a separate plain paper, or polythene-lined, plain inner sleeve. I am very conscientious and careful when packaging your LP(s).
I consider my postage & packaging costs to be very transparent & very fair. Packaging costs will generally be between £0.80 to £1.50. I am not adding any further costs for handling, etc...If you are uncertain about any of the above, or just simply want some information regarding any item, please do not hesitate to contact me. I welcome any questions.
Remember to check out My Other Items Lots of rare & quality vinyl! Most are UK 1st Pressings. It is quite likely that there will be more records by this artist, or records in a similar vein.
