First Ever 1962 MONO PRESSING
NOTES:
This was recorded on Tuesday 4th September 1962 at Abbey Road Studios for their first single on Parlophone. This version features Ringo Starr on drums and does not contain any tambourine playing. It can also be identified by the presence of the matrix number 7XCE 17144-1N in the runout. In recent years there have been some reissues that have also included this version.
Another master exists which is to be used for the version of the song recorded on Tuesday 11th September 1962 at Abbey Road Studios. That version features an uncredited Andy White on drums with Ringo Starr playing tambourine.
1. First pressing, 45-R 4949, October 5, 1962. The records were housed in Type 1 or Type 2 company sleeves. Red label with silver print. Catalog number with 45 prefix. These labels have “PARLOPHONE” in large stylized letters at the top and the Parlophone £ logo at 3 o’clock. The publishing year was printed on the label, as “RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1962?. Red label pressings can be found with ZT, WOZT, MPZT or PT tax code, or without. Matrix numbers: Side A: 7XCE 17144-1N, Side B: 7XCE 17145-1N.
Type 1 labels have “MADE IN GT. BRITAIN” printed below the Parlophone £ logo:
Type 1 sleeve. Blue, red, yellow and green multicolored sleeve designed in the late 50s to be used with the red label. Used from 1958 until 1963 with Parlophone series 45-R 4441 – 45-R 4988 including The Beatles singles 45-R 4949 “Love Me Do” and 45-R 4983 “Please Please Me”.

CONDITION
The Vinyl VG++ TO EXCELLENT
On initial visual inspection the playing surface looks LOVELY, GLOSSY AND MIRROR LIKE SHINE I can only see one or two feint hairlines under a strong light !!! Any marks that could possibly be seen under a stronger light would be caused by the vinyl been slid in and out of its sleeve! Importantly There is definitely NO needle scratches or audio sounding marks that I heard at all !!!!! a Lovely example of this original vinyl from OCTOBER 1962.
The Audio Quality EXCELLENT +
I have played this through track for track at very loud volume on a top REGA system, the audio is awesome! there is a few seconds of crackle on the run ins but disappears totally when the music kicks in, and then leaves a super audio experience. a full professional clean may well eliminate the run in crackle, which this iconic vinyl deserves ?
Crystal clear and vibrant through out, with NO distortion or any signs of groove wear at all !!!!
Certainly NO clicks pops or jumps!! As good as it gets in my opinion!!
THIS AUDIO IS RATED AT THE VERY TOP ON ALL FREQUENCIES!
UNBELIEVABLE FOR A VINYL THAT IS 58 YEARS OLD !!!!!
The Labels: EXCELLENT ++ These are the very first type 1 labels and in superb condition !!! Only a few FEINT SPINDLE LINES can be seen on each side, angled in strong light but concentrated around the centre hole only.
Confirming this has definitely been played sparingly since 1965 For a vinyl that is 58 years old , AMAZING !!
Please note! i am highly critical about the audio quality on my records as it is my prime interest above rarity! This plays awesome you will not be disappointed.
