This auction is for The Beatles- Magical Mystery Tour SMAL 2835

This album includes 24-page full color picture book(booklet is detached from album jacketbut is in very good condition with little wear).

The jacket is in VG condition with some ring and corner wear. Inner sleave has some creases and a seem split opposite the opening. Copyright on front reads 1967 Nems Enterprises Ltd.Opening up the gatefold you find Capitol and EMI logos as well as an "Apple Presents" logo. Below the album is divided by songs fromthe movie and "other selections". Songs from the movie are all listed as being published by Comet Music Corp. The performance rights society is listed as ASCAP. In script under I am the Walrus is written "no you're not!" said Little Nicola. The other selections or side b have all the songs published by Maclen Music Inc with BMI as the performance rights society. All later versions have BMI on all the songs. This was a misprint making this version extremely rare.

The vinyl is in VG condition and I will add an audio sample to this auction. A record in this condition will has some surface imperfections but will play through. There will be a little loss in sonic detail. The matrix has the Scranton, PA stamp SMAL 2835 A21 #3. Capital Rainbow label not Apple record label. Indicates a "subsidiary of Capitol Industries". Again ASCAP on side A, BMI on side B.

In a nutshell the reason this is extremely rare is The Beatles are transitioning from Capitol labels to Apple labels. This is evident by the Apple logo on the inside of the gatefold despite the Capitol rainbow label on the record. Later LP's would all list BMI as the performance rights society. The Beatles; John Lennon Paul McCartney George Harrison and Ringo Starr were also in transition. In many ways the 60's were winding down. Apple was their new direction. This LP is a foot print in the sand. There are not a lot of these versions available. This may be your only chance to have a piece of Beatle history.
