This item is a very nice, UK-import Parlophone Records pressing of Magical Mystery Tour, first released in November 1967.  This pressing is quite rare, as it is on yellow vinyl.  This is the “soundtrack” to the very interesting movie – note that I did not say that it was a very “good”, only that it was “interesting” – of the same name, shown on the BBC Boxing Day 1967.  During the Beatles weekend in Wales with the Maharishi, they learned of the death of their long-time manager, Brian Epstein.  Although he was a very private and somewhat mysterious figure, and even though he was not particularly music-business savvy, Brian did a remarkable job of shaping the image of the Beatles.  It was he who insisted on the matching suits, the trendy shoes, the haircuts, never allowing them to be filmed smoking, etc, all designed to cultivate a friendly, boy-next-door image.  After his death, the Beatles were professionally crippled and, unfortunately, left to their own devices and whims.  One of them was Apple Corps, just about the worst business model one could ever dream up, even in its context of the hippy-dippy ‘60s.  The other was this film.  The boys decided that music was going to be their deal, not big-budget films, so the idea (conceived by Paul) was a magical bus coach trip through the English countryside, filming whatever “magic” may occur along the way.  They also conceived different vignettes (Aunt Jessie’s dream sequence, with John shoveling spaghetti onto her plate – remind you just a little of Mr Creosote in Monty Python’s Meaning of Life? – and the Busby Berkeley, old-time dance number for Your Mother Should Know) and brought in actors to pad out the film (Victor Spinetti, who holds the distinction of being the only actor to appear in all three of their movies).  But it is pretty much a mess.  I know that there is a school of thought that regards the film as a masterpiece of improvisation, but I disagree.  It’s just stupid.  But, the music is just GREAT – the title track, Blue Jay Way, I Am the Walrus, Baby You’re a Rich Man, All You Need Is Love – just great.  This pressing still has the 12” x 12” 24-page booklet securely attached inside the gatefold.  The cover has a couple of very slight marks – a stain near the words “Goodbye”, “Lane” and “You” in the lower left-hand side, and a mild sticker mark in the upper right-hand corner, as shown in the photo – and some very mild generalized wear, and grades to VG+.  For whatever reason, I can't get the photo of the vinyl yo upload, but I can send it if necessary.    

The vinyl is in excellent condition.  The cover is in VG+ condition, as shown in the photo.

I am not a dealer, and all of the items I place up for auction are from my personal collection gathered over the past forty years.  I am selling my collection little by little to pay for college expenses for my two kids, in my spare time. 

The shipping costs are as follows: $4.00 for one LP via media mail to anywhere in the U.S.   Each additional LP is an additional $0.40 for media mail shipping.  Priority shipping within the U.S. is a function of weight and postal zone, and I will e-mail an invoice indicating the cost of priority (I can also provide this info while the auction is pending, if you e-mail me your zip code and the number of LPs). 

Insurance through the USPS is available, and once again my invoice will provide the cost information. 

NOTE:  Sealed items are collectible because they are sealed.  Since I do not own a store, I cannot return items to the manufacturer.  Once opened, I cannot refund the purchase price in full because opening significantly affects its value. 

NOTE: Media mail does not have tracking.  The USPS offers delivery confirmation with online tracking.  If you want online tracking with delivery confirmation,  ability, you must purchase delivery confirmation for $0.75.

I will always combine items, so that shipping costs will be more manageable.  Payment may be made by paypal.  If I do not receive payment for an item within fifteen (15) days of the end of the auction and I do not hear from you in response to e-mails, I will consider the auction results void and relist the item(s) for auction.
