This is the ultimate fan collection. In the days when stereo was just starting to come on the scene, the primary format with the biggest installed base globally was mono and it was as mono albums that these were mixed and mastered by the core of 5 people: John, Paul, George, Ringo and George Martin. Right up to 1968's The Beatles (known as The White Album) they made specific mono and stereo versions of each album, with stereo being considered a ˜bonus' format that could be mastered and cut later, sometimes a matter of weeks, without them even being present. This gap in time and approach means that for the fan and audiophile alike, it is these versions of these albums that are now considered to be the authentic voice of The Beatles. To hear these albums in mono, cut entirely in the analogue domain from the original master tapes, is to hear The Beatles as they intended to be heard.
The stereo remasters in 2009 provided the clearest and finest versions of the stereo mixes that were possible to make. But if you only know the stereo versions, no matter how good they are, be prepared for a surprise that will turn your world upside down! This is THE sound of The Beatles¦the closest you can get to the authentic sound of The Beatles.
These heavyweight 180g vinyl record were cut from the original master tapes. The mastering team used a completely analogue signal path and were guided by the notes made by the cutting engineer for the first pressings of the albums. The packaging replicates the artwork and construction of the original LP sleeves. The box set also includes a collector's edition 106 page hardback book featuring new essay, notes on the mastering process and new photography.
