Description

PAUL McCARTNEY ''McCARTNEY'' ?1st UK Pressing 1970 Cat No PCS 7102 ?Earliest Possible -A2U -1U Matrix Endings on side 1 and 2 respectively and in awesome condition!  Please don't under estimate the rarity of this album. In my experience of collecting vinyls for more than 45 years the earliest pressings give exceptional audio quality and are extremely collectable.

Scheduled for release on 17 April 1970 the other Beatles realised that McCartney would conflict with the impending release of Let It Be album as well as the demise of the Beatles. McCartney wouldn't talk to the Beatles or the press but issued his own Q&A/press release and this was featured in the music newspapers of the time. This press release (in its entirety as well as the original review of the album by Alun Smith appeared in the NME April 18 1970 is also included with this - I bought the all on the day of release.

So for auction is the LP and original press cuttings from the NME - see photos.

The vinyl - in excellent condition and is the original thick heavy EMI type with deeper grooved vinyl. On initial visual inspection this vinyl looks excellent and retains its original very glossy sheen. No scratches just very minor surface lines/marks (more on side 1 than 2) from taking album from sleeve. Although I never heard any problems during the playback I have given my honest opinion but please allow for the odd static tick\crackle here and there. So excellent vinyl that plays superb.

The matrices are

SIDE 1 -YEX 775-A2U with  2 GA stampers

SIDE 2 - YEX 776 1U and 1 T stampers

rare to find 2U matrix endings let alone 1 U - never seen these before.

The album is housed in the correct plain white inner sleeve with "patent applied for"  and "Made in Great Britain" along bottom edge - No splits just very light creases with age!??

The labels - these feature the 1st issue 1st UK pressed DARK GREEN apple labels in absolutely superb condition (see photo) and are free from any writing, marks or spindle marks from centre. In excellent condition.

Album cover - original 1st issue fully laminated gatefold cover features "EMI Records (The Gramophone Co Ltd, Hayes Middlesex, England. Printed and Made in England" on bottom right hand area of rear of sleeve (later covers feature Apple Records. The cover is also in excellent condition, free from any writing or major creasing and still "crackles" on opening. There are approx 5 very small creases around spine but nothing serious and one or two smaller creases on sleeve around edges with some sign of the record wear due to storage coming through but again nothing serious - I would say overall excellent condition. Spine is intact and McCartney text clearly visible. P&P will be recorded delivery only. I will post worldwide so contact me first before bidding to confirm cost for you. A real collectors item and am starting the auction at a price to reflect its rarity

I am selling all my Beatles collection so look at my other items - 1st UK RAM album in exact same condition.
