Description

The Beatles Please Please Me 1964 Odeon Germany Export Edition

Incredibly rare, practically in a perfect condition, copy of Please Please Me 1st pressing export release. It comes from early 1964, maybe February or March, issued for the U.S. and G.B. soldiers that in the 1960's were stationed in West-Germany and West-Berlin after World War II. Impossible to find a copy of this album with the Near Mint cover still in a shrink wrap. Half vinyl-coated single flap-over type cover. The cover with a photo by Angus McBean, whose credits are at the bottom right of the front cover. The top left corner has the Odeon logo mark and catalog number ZTOX 5500. The back of the sleeve indicates that the cover was printed in Germany. It also contains the Odeon logo mark and export catalog number ZTOX 5500, which can also be found on the 1st print Odeon white and gold label with the "Made in Germany", "ST33" in a circle and 1st label style "ALLE RECHTE DES PLATTEN" rim text. In the mid 1966 the rim print was changed on all Hörzu (and Odeon) releases to read: URHEBER. UND LEISTUNGSSCHUTZRECHTE. This stereo versions of "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You" have been created from the mono versions, because original master tapes are lost. I grade the vinyl visually as Excellent, which looks fantastic with a fresh shiny gloss with Side 2 having a barely noticeable non-feelable 0.25' hairline. 1st matrix numbers: SHZE 117-A-1; SHZE 117-B-1. The album comes with the original Odeon inner sleeve in Near Mint Minus condition.
