THE BEATLES
“OTRO DE LOS BEATLES”
(OTHER BY THE BEATLES)
(Please Please Me)
(Por Favor… Compláceme)
WOW!!! MEGARARE and hard-to-find original High Fidelity MONO very first press released in Chile in 1964 by Industrias Eléctricas Y Musicales Odeon, S.A. (Odeon Records), catalog number LDC-36471, with machine etched matrix numbers XEX 421-1N 2N (“N” inverted) 1 in Side A and XEX 422-2N 2N (“N” inverted) in Side B, with red wine (maroon)/silver labels with big unboxed Odeon logo!!! Yes Sirs, this is the AUTHENTICAL VERY FIRST PRESS OF “PLEASE PLEASE ME” released here in Chile!!! ANOTHER FIND for The Beatles collectors worldwide!!!
“PLEASE PLEASE ME” was originally released in 1963 and we had to wait until 1964 to see this album released in Chile, but like in most of the cases of that period, we got this album with an UNIQUE COVER and UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE!!! The cover is non-laminated and is the typical Chilean cover made of 2 single sheets of paper attached (not glued) to a thin cardboard kept together for an outer plastic bag. Front cover has black and white pictures with the names of the four Beatles and a white stripe at right edge with the album title and unboxed Odeon logo at bottom right corner, this front cover has an UNIQUE ARTWORK worldwide (the pictures of each Beatle are the same used in “The Beatles’ Christmas Record” 7” flexi disc released in December 1963 and the black and white design is identical to the original PS single “Twist And Shout” released in Denmark in 1963, the same design but with colored pictures was used in some singles released in Turkey in 1965-66) and it’s considered one of the rarest The Beatles records. Back cover it’s also UNIQUE, it has the Chilean album title with the original title “Please Please Me”, translated to Spanish, with a long review about The Beatles, with tracklist written in English, translated to Spanish, with full credits for songwriters, except for “Please Please Me”, and the text and logo “Serie Estelar”. It’s interesting to see that in back cover the sides are identified as “Faz 1” and “Faz 2” but in labels they are informed only “A” and “B”. In labels it’s informed the Chilean and UK album titles, with tracklist written in English only, with full credits for songwriters. In back cover the translation of “Please Please Me” is “Por Favor… Compláceme” in subtitle and “Por Favor…, Compláceme” in tracklist, with extra “,”!!!
So, here you have the chance to own this MEGARARE PRESS of “Please Please Me” and this is the authentical very first press, not a second pressing or reissue released in Chile with UNIQUE COVER and UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, with correct maroon/silver big unboxed Odeon logo and “Serie Estelar” labels, and correct cover with only Odeon logo in front and back covers with “Serie Estelar” in back cover!!! WOW!!! It’s important to know that in Chile the first The Beatles album released was “With The Beatles”, maybe that was the main reason to use the title “Other Of The Beatles”, because “Please Please Me” was the second LP released in Chile, in Spanish Chilean liner notes they explain: “We hope that all songs included in this record will be quickly the preferred songs of the youth for their parties and, since the first LP was a success, we have pleased you releasing OTHER OF THE BEATLES”. Not many times seen and here you have the chance to own this MEGARARE AUTHENTICAL VERY FIRST PRESS with this UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE only used here in Chile!!! WOW!!!
The cover was already described and it’s in great VG- or VG condition both the front and back cover, complete, no writings, no bends, no ring marks, with general wear in all edges with some creases and little rips, more evident in top and mouth sides, with a water mark at bottom left corner of back cover, with moderate age browning. Original outer plastic bag is present and in VG- or VG condition, with some rips and it has got a bit dirty, it could be removed but I like to keep the records in the original conditions and it has worked perfectly to protect the fragile cover. The record is thick and it’s in only G+ or VG- condition both sides, not so glossy but absolutely clean, with loads and loads of hairlines, scuffs and scratches of all sizes which make you think if the record will play properly, but amazingly don’t affect play at all. Labels are in VG- or VG condition the Side A, clean, clear and totally readable, with moderate spindle hole wear, writings and a big tear, and in VG+ or EX- condition the Side B, clear and clear, with only some spindle hole wear and little tears. The sound is a nice surprise, it’s in strong VG- or VG condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, with a soft background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), but constant light crackles and some occasional pops and clicks, more evident in the silent parts between tracks, which don’t distract at all. At the end of “I Saw Her Standing There” I detected a little jump, maybe it’s only present in my turntable, you already know that records behave a bit different in different turntables, but in my turntable I hear the jump. Most of song could easily be graded as EX or EX+. I’d recommend a vacuum cleaning anyway, maybe it’s only a dust particle I’ve not could remove. Overall sure this record isn’t for Minty or audiophile minds, but sure this record sounds much better that how it looks and after all the plays this record had the sound quality that it keeps from the beginning to the end sure won’t disappoint anyone after 50 years!!! And keep in mind the UNIQUE COVER and UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, if you collect The Beatles you already know this is A MUST TO HAVE no matter the condition and here you have the chance this very first press with a cover in great shape and a record with still a more than decent and respectable sound quality!!! WOW!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the cover and labels in detail.
Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a copy of this RARE record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…
Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile.
_________________________________________________________
We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.
MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.
NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK
We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
