The Beatles Please Please Me Vinyl LP Album 12 inch Mono We believed this was a third pressing but we've been advised it's a fourth pressing.  Please read the details below.
Third pressings are described to show, 'The Parlophone Co Ltd' around the edge and no mention of 'Recording first published 1963' and no mention of 'Sold in the UK' statements, which matches this vinyl.  We believe these are added on the 4th and 5th pressings.  We also believe that the 6th pressings onwards have 'The Gramophone Co' around the perimeter.  We believe this is a First Sleeve based on the position of the 'Photo: Angus McBean' credit. (Below is what an Ebayer sent to us: When EMI changed to the standard Yellow and Black sleeve they left the small 33 1/3 on the label (3rd pressing), and when they realised the error they removed it (4th Pressing). The 'Recording First Published' text didn't appear until the 5th pressings. The chronology of the labels generally also correlates to the mothers and stamper codes in the run-outs. Third pressings have lower mother and stamper codes than fourth pressings and some third pressings were even pressed along with second pressings.
EMI's production line was not done in a linear fashion so collectors tend to look to the presence of the small 33 1/3 on the standard yellow and black label to call it a 3rd pressing.)
The cover is a good as you would expect for something that's 58 years old!  Just the usual scuffs and very light marks but essentially 95% of the whole of the cover is unmarked front and back. Inner sleeve, which has got the printing on it, has light wear and the usual slight split on the bottom.
The vinyl itself was well played but at the same time, there are no fingerprints on it.  There are several light scratches and the worse one goes across There's a Place and Twist and Shout on side 2.  I only ever played my vinyls with good quality styluses and any marks on this will be from 58 years of the sheer pleasure of handling but I no longer have vinyl playing capability to hand so I'm selling this 'sold as seen'.  However, I don't recall any of my albums jumping or skipping but obviously, in and out of the sleeve so many times, but only ever handled by me, would have to have some light abrasions, which I think is what I'm seeing.
