The Beatles / Past Masters (Volume 1 & 2) – Capitol Records C1-91135 (Stereo)(1988)(US) ...This auction is for a sealed, out of print Stereo Double Record (pressed on U.S. vinyl) that has been digitally remastered from the original catalog.
The sheer number of astounding singles makes this double set essential. The 18 songs on Past Masters, Vol. 1 capture the exuberance of Beatlemania while confirming their talents as popcraftsmen ("This Boy," "Yes It Is") and proving that they could rock really, ("I Feel Fine," "She's a Woman" and "I'm Down"). Apart from the cuts that are merely rarities, this is a near-perfect compilation that captures the energy and spirit of the Beatles' early years.
Picking up where Past Masters, Vol. 1 left off, Past Masters, Vol. 2 collects the 15 non-LP tracks that the Beatles released in the last five years of their career. Indeed, some of the greatest singles in pop history are here: "Day Tripper," "We Can Work It Out," "Paperback Writer," "Rain," "Lady Madonna," "Hey Jude," "Revolution," "Don't Let Me Down," and "The Ballad of John and Yoko".
The brand new Records and Gatefold Cover are in excellent (Mint) condition. Also included will be a plastic outer sleeve. Auction photo may have a light gray spot(s) on left side of album pictured.
