Description
This is an original, complete, extremely scarce and totally authentic copy of the much sought after Let It Be presentation box set by The Beatles from 1970 (stereo, PCS 7096). Initial pressings of this album were a total joy, coming complete with a gorgeous book and first pressing 2U/2U matrices copy of the Let It Be album all carefully housed in a fragile three-section laminated box. But many were mistreated and othere simply fell to bits ...
This is a rare surviving example in strong VG+ condition which nevertheless bears one or two inevitable scars of age which I will acquaint you with, if you will bear with me.
Firstly, the most obvious scar, a small v-shaped loss of black/laminate from the middle of the right edge of the front of the outer tray, which you can no doubt see on the photo. Elsewhere on the outer box is the odd bit of corner/edgewear, which would look more presentable if I were handy with a black felt tip ... but I'm not like that! But most of these box outers will have been crushed or torn over the years so in fact this is a perfectly reasonable example. I have seen grubby patched up disasters fetch good money on eBay purely on account of the rarity factor.
The lovely box houses a black printed cardboard 'inner box section' which is in Good condition although the two flaps are quite creased. In turn this section cradles an extremely delicate die-cut and perforated inner tray section (see photo) which is also in good condition with very little creasing (though I am sure the photo makes it look a little better than it is). This inner tray section is extremely fragile and few have survived. It houses the Let It Be book which was always far too heavy to contain it - an engineering disaster! I have always kept the book separate to safeguard this inner tray.
The laminated unavailable-elsewhere Let It Be book is in excellent condition as well as being an essential acquisition for any fan of The Beatles or indeed music in general. This copy is complete, undamaged and unrepaired ... most fell to bits after a few careless reads but this copy has hardly been looked at.
The disc itself is housed in a unique first pressing box set cover which features the famous RED apple logo on the rear. This fully laminated red apple cover is in a strong VG condition, very flat but with the inevitable impression of the disc showing and just a little corner and edgewear but all the text on the spine slearly showing.
The rare thickly-pressed first edition disc with its first pressing 2U/2U matrices unique to the box set is also in strong VG condition with a beautiful black sheen to the vinyl and only light surface marks showing under intense light.
In all this is a presentable and totally complete VG package of the very first box set presentation pressing of Let It be by The Beatles. For my own as well as the winning bidder's peace of mind, the complete set will be carefully packaged separately to ensure no damage is done during transit to any of these fragile components.
Good luck if you choose to bid.
