Description

Thanks for looking at my item and hope you all had a good Christmas! Up for grabs is this original first press (I think, please check!) of The Beatles' Revolver from 1966. I'll try to be very detailed & honest for the listing as I'm sure there'll be plenty of interest. I've made the photos as big as possible but as always, ask away if you need further information.
Outer Sleeve: Complete, intact and all readable. No splits, tears or sticky tape repairs. Laminated front still very good & glossy. Spine good and clearly readable along its length. Rear shows some age-related discolouration along the glue tabs but is only to be expected. Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patents pending.
Inner Sleeve: Generic and probably not original. No markings, wax-lined white paper.
Record/Vinyl: Surface scuffs and blemishes apparent and there's one sticking point halfway into track 7 on side 2. Very obvious scratch across last two tracks on side 2 but plays through fine. Record actually looks much worse than it sounds. Labels are excellent with only a little spidering around the slot.
The Geeky Stuff: Label - Parlophone (EMI Records, The Gramophone Company Ltd. Hayes. Middlesex. England). Made & printed in Great Britain. Label Code - PMC 7009 Matrix/Run-out Identifiers: XEX 605-2 (side 1), XEX 606-1 (side 2)
I think the photos should say the rest.
Please remember that this is almost 50 years old and far from mint. I've played it through many times on a Yamaha deck with Nagaoka MP100 cartridge & stylus (spherical tip) and it's absolutely fine (actually sounds rather good!). I did try it with an elliptical Ortofon VMS20E MkII which is my main stylus and it didn't sound as good. I think in this case it's better to have a slightly less expensive/sensitive stylus to play with. If you have an older system, ideally with a mono switch on your amp, you'll be in Beatles Heaven!
Low start and no reserve due to condition. Grab a bargain and check some of my other listings.... and thanks again for looking!
PS: If you live local and want to collect that's fine. I'm also happy to play it through with you to make sure you're happy with it!

Just found the original inner sleeve in OK condition. It has the same "Emitex" cleaning literature printed on it as the outside sleeve. It will be included in the sale - happy bidding!
