The Beatles : Revolver 1966 (2nd Mono Pressing)

I recently purchased a Beatles collection and the majority of them are Mono first pressings.  They have been incredibly well looked after by the one previous owner and she stored them all upright in plastic sleeves since the 60s.  They have only been lightly played and the covers are in wonderful condition.  Any minor wear will be fully described.  There will be no 'buy it now' price as I prefer to let the auctions run.

  Mono 2/2 Second pressing on Yellow/Black Parlophone label.  'The Gramophone Co. Ltd' etc is printed around the perimeter edge of the labels.

'Sold in U.K. subject to resale price conditions' printed below the Parlophone labels.  Being such an early mono pressing the cover has Dr. Robert on the cover.  Later pressings have Doctor Robert.

Visual grading

This vinyl and cover have been superbly well looked after by its one previous owner.  The vinyl does have spindle wear and some fine hairlines but they are no doubt caused by sleeve removal.  I am not exaggerating by saying it looks amazing!  The glossy sheen is just stunning and this is without doubt one of the best records I have ever seen from the 60s.  It is such a rarity to find a record from this era that has obviously been well played but so well cared for.  There are quite simply no scratches to speak of and at first glance it does look Mint.  The cover more than matches the audio also and is the cleanest I have ever seen, visually stunning again.  A real collectors' copy and genuine final upgrade.

Play grading  

The lead in grooves have hardly any static so you just know this record is going to play well.  'Taxman' plays superbly well with only a hint of background static, incredible sound.  The classic 'Eleanor Rigby' plays in the same fashion.  This really is high quality audio that is near impossible to improve upon.  'I'm Only Sleeping' has three faint clicks in the middle but has no further issues.  The remainder of the side does not disappoint and plays with such stunning clarity and resonance.  Many sellers would grade this as Near Mint but I will be more cautious.  If anything there is just a touch of very quiet intermittent static but it is in no way intrusive.  This side is a fantastic listen from beginning to end with 'She Said She Said' playing with a little distortion perhaps.

Side Two again plays with breathtaking quality.  The lack of any interference is so rare.  There is the odd dust tick (hardly any!) but you get that with new vinyl let alone one that is over 50 years old!  With complete silence between tracks this is another Beatles album I am selling that was so well looked after by its one previous owner.  There are no clicks, pops or intrusive crackle to be heard anywhere just very minor static here and there as already mentioned. Whilst all the tracks play with great definition and clarity 'Good Day Sunshine' and 'For No One' stand out as they just play so well for relatively quiet songs.

This 2/2 second mono pressing is another genuine final upgrade copy I am selling.  With wonderful audio the cover is absolutely stunning also!

Cover

The G & L flipback cover is in such incredible condition it must be in the top 1% in the known universe!  The edges and spine have no wear and only the two bottom corners have a very minor amount of creasing but is really not that obvious.  The laminated front cover is so clean and the laminate itself has suffered no damage in the last 51 years!  What can I say about the back cover?  It is more or less Mint and definitely has the wow factor!  The flipbacks are absolutely pristine and only the bottom corner has a tiny crease.  It is so rare to find one of the covers looking as immaculate as this.  There are no marks anywhere to be seen.

Inner sleeve

The plain white inner has no splits or tears just some light creasing.  It has 'Patents Applied For' and 'Made in Great Britain' printed on the bottom of one side.

Labels

The yellow/black Parlophone labels are in excellent condition with only some spindle wear, no marks or writing at all.
