THE BEATLES - 'REVOLVER' - MONO VINYL LP (WITHDRAWN MIX?) - PARLOPHONE - PMC 7009 - 1966
Description
A 33 1/3 RPM mono vinyl LP, 'Revolver' by The Beatles
The album was released in 1991 on Parlophone.
This was The Beatles seventh studio album. Recorded at EMI Studios, London (Abbey Road) between April and June, 1966 and released in August of the same year.
NB:- The first pressings of this album included a different mix (mix 11) for "Tomorrow Never Knows". This was replaced by a different mix (mix 8) for subsequent releases. From what I can gather the tape loops in the instrumental break were mixed differently and the piano lasted slightly longer at the end. This mix should have XEX-606-1 in the matrix.
I've compared this copy to my own and it's difficult to spot the difference. However, I've recorded both versions in Audacity and there is a definite difference in the profile between the two. This is evident in the more pronounced spikes on the instrumental break and the piano at the end lasts a couple of seconds longer with softer notes in the fade-out. So I'm reasonably sure this is the withdrawn mix.
All Songs are written by Lennon & McCartney except for "Taxman", "Love To You" and "I Want To Tell You" by George Harrison
The Beatles are, of course, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr
Additional credited musicians are Anil Bhagwal, tabla on "Love To You" and Alan Civil, French horn on "For No One"
Produced by George Martin.
The sleeve has a back cover photo of the band by Robert Whitaker. The front cover features Klaus Voormann's iconic design. There is a track listing with writing credits and featured vocalist. The front and the flipbacks are laminated. Printed by Garrod & Lofthouse with a recommendation to use 'Emitex' cleaner in the bottom right-hand corner. Small 'mono' inthe top right-hand corner of the front cover.
Side 2, track 4 is listed as "Dr. Robert" on both the sleeve and the label.
