LAMINATED FLIPBACK SLEEVE WITH ORIGINAL INNER SLEEVE

Late 1966 or early 1967? / Third Press

Sleeve has the words "TRADE MARK OF THE GRAMOPHONE CO. LTD." under the Parlophone logomark. Printer name credit: "Printed and made  by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patents pending  PMC 7009 PCS 7009"

Wrap-around cover. Round-cut corner.

Catalog No. "PMC 7009" is printed on upper right corner of the back cover.

"THE GRAMOPHONE CO. LTD. (capital letter)" is printed at the perimeter. "(P) 1966" statement was printed on the label.

Tax code "K and T" letters are embossed.

"SOLD IN U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS, SEE PRICE LISTS" statement is printed at the centre of the label.

This label has Roman font and new layout design. But it also displays the incorrect "Dr. Robert" spelling on side 2. The credits pattern of “Song (Composer)-Lead Singer” has switched to “Song-Lead Singer (Composer)”.

All the rules fell by the wayside with Revolver, as the Beatles began exploring new sonic territory, lyrical subjects, and styles of composition. It wasn't just Lennon and McCartney, either -- Harrison staked out his own dark territory with the tightly wound, cynical rocker "Taxman".

The biggest miracle of Revolver may be that the Beatles covered so much new stylistic ground and executed it perfectly on one record, or it may be that all of it holds together perfectly. Either way, its daring sonic adventures and consistently stunning songcraft set the standard for what pop/rock could achieve. Even after Sgt. Pepper, Revolver stands as the ultimate modern pop album and it's still as emulated as it was upon its original release.

 TRACKLISTING

A superb copy of this landmark album. The vinyl still retains a deep lustre and has been well cared for with superb reproduction and very little in the way of any extraneous pops and crackles. There are a few light scratches under bright light but as already indicated these do not impair playback to any great degree. Overall I would rate the vinyl as being in VERY GOOD + CONDITION.

The laminated sleeve is in strong condition - a few cracks in the laminate here and there and minor discolouration in places but NO major defects and a strong spine with legible lettering - VERY GOOD CONDITION.

The labels are in great shape with no writing or annotations and very little in the way of wear -VERY GOOD + CONDITION.

RECORD GRADING GUIDE

"MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler."

As well as the above grades, Near Mint is often used as well; this is really for a record that appears new but is known to have been played because the label has light spindle marks or because it has come from a previous owner and is assumed to have been played by them. For records which appear to fall between the accepted grades, + and - are also often added to the grading.
