AN ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIC EXAMPLE OF A SUPER RARE VINYL MONO ALBUM FROM THE BEATLES....

Released Versions

Very First pressings (1965) - Mono version

Visibly same as "Second" pressing below, but very first issue had a slightly different studio mix.
It can be recognised by the matrix numbers ending with "-1", this is generally referred to as the "Loud" cut.
This was a mix that was discontinued after a very brief pressing run, when it was realised it was tonally unbalanced.
It lacks body, has a muddled bass, with vocals stretched thin making it sound aggressive and edgy (hence, "loud").
But this pressing is not really louder, and remember, it was withdrawn for a reason ... it is one you can do without.

Attempts at correcting first pressings (1965) - Mono version

Once again, visibly it is the same as "Second" pressing below.
When the bad mono issue was realised above, the mix was corrected and the stampers were changed to have a matrix ending in "-4".
Incredibly, during this change over, there were some that had the dodgy mix on side 1 and on other presses the dodgy mix on side 2 !.
So you will find some with XEX 579-1 coupled with XEX 580-4
and you will find others as XEX 579-4 coupled with XEX 580-1
Again, as stated above, these are not better versions to have. They are not common, but they aren't the intended final product. Indeed, the general public in those days never noticed.

ALBUM:- is in Excellent+++ Condition Very… Very Rarely Played (If Ever) or Handled. (Very near mint)

LABELS Excellent+++… No writing. No stickers. Bright and in Tact.

INNER SLEEVE is in Very Good and Original. EMITEX Poly-lined.

LAMINATED RECORD SLEEVE… Is in Excellent+++ Condition. No writing, No tears. Still Bright & Vibrant Colours No de-lamination… Very Minor Laminate Crease West to East.1/2inch from the top No Damage though. (No Break In Lamination)

OUTER COVER lamination as the original, and in great shinny condition… No de-lamination. Strong Readable Spine...At All Times This LP Has Been Stored In A Thick Polythene Protective Sleeve.

THE LP/ALBUM IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION+++, VERY CLEAN AND BRIGHT WITH THE ORIGINAL PRODUCTION SHEEN. THE ALBUM SLEEVE IS EXCELLENT+++, VERY CLEAN. NO WRITING OR MARKS, VERY... VERY…VERY LIGHT WEAR AROUND ONE EDGE. THE SPINE IS GOOD STILL CLEAR AND READABLE.

GRADING'S

When grading Albums and Singles, the standard UK grading system as defined by Record Collector Magazine is followed.

This the most widely used guide and respected by Collectors Worldwide.

MINT (M) – Record is in brand new condition. The cover and all extra items are present and in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX) – The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing. (Very Well Looked After).

VERY GOOD (VG) – The Album has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items (without any major defects) is acceptable.
