Description
This is the very rare and scarce 1985 (third) pressing and sealed album of The Beatles entitled, "Rarities". This original third pressing album is on Capitol/EMI Records SHAL-12060. This is an extremely tough album to find out there still sealed and this one is gorgeous, all around! Overall in NM- condition and it's going to be a great find for the right collector!
Background: This particular album for sale is the third pressing (1985) after Capitol corrected the errors from the first pressing (March of 1980) and released a corrected second pressing (Fall of 1980) and this time they embossed the photos on the back cover. In 1985, Capitol Records downgraded the cover and removed the embossed affect altogether and this became the third pressing (THIS ONE that you are looking at). It is considered a much rarer (no pun intended) version of the previous and collectors normally seek this one out, which you don't normally see out there... especially sealed. Overall I would grade this sealed album as NM- and that is ONLY because everything on this album cover is spot-on with the exception of just a hint of side rubbing on the left side of the back cover (from the internal album). Corners are all very nice, with microscopic signs of tiny tip rubs (typical for this album). Shrink is perfect with two vertical breathe holes on the front cover on the left side. This version does not have embossed photos on either side of the jacket. This LP has a small store sticker "C" (price code) in the upper right corner on the front cover. Spine and all seams are beautiful with no shrink splits or tears whatsoever.
This rare pressing LP will make the right collector very, very happy!
I have described this total LP as accurately as possible and it will be a fantastic addition to any collector's records. I'm quite strict about my grading.
