Description
This is a very rare Beatles vinyl LP titled "The Beatles’ Second Album" on the German Odeon label catalog number ZTOX 5558, a first pressing Stereo from 1964. This record is one of the rare Odeon releases with the word "Alle" as the first word of the rim print on the record label (see pictures). Records with "Alle" as the first word of the rim print were issued by German Odeon until 1966.
German Odeon records of this period were pressed on extra thick vinyl. I purchased the record new in Germany in 1964 while on active duty with the US Army. It has been played exclusively on high end turntables and has only minor scuffs on the surface and the label is in excellent condition. This record does make typical sounds heard on older vinyl records such as light surface noise but it is only heard between songs and there are no skips. This remains a great sounding record at high volume.
The outer jacket front is very good with slight wear at the opening and a hint of ring wear if viewed at an angle. The jacket rear is very good with only a hand written small letter “x” next to one of the song titles (see picture). There are no seam splits or tears on this jacket.
The original inner sleeve with ads for other Odeon releases is intact and in near perfect condition except for a small split in the center of the bottom seam.
This is a really nice record suitable for framing.
I will pack the record outside of the jacket to protect jacket integrity and ship in a sturdy LP mailer with cardboard inserts and bubble wrap for further protection.
