Description
This is an auction for The Beatles LP, Second Album.
This was released by Capitol records in the US and has catalogue number T2080. This is the 1st press US release with a black and rainbow rim label, this is mono. Please check the pictures for clarification.
Matrix: T 1 2080 F1 T 2 2080 G4
Condition: The US card sleeve has buffing to the edges and corners, on the bottom edge the buff marks have worn through the paper outer, but not the card edge itself. This has numerous discolour marks, some perhaps cleanable. Spine ok, a little faded but still legible, no tears, bends or creases, nice mouth, complete and graded at VG.
I have placed an inner sleeve as this did not have one, unsure if this did originally, some US LPs don't.
Both labels are clean and look new, under a strong light a few spindle scratch trails marks can be seen on each side, this may of been placed on a pointed spindle, hence the marks, these have of course not torn or defaced the label. The centre hole shows a mere touch of wear on both sides.
The vinyl retains its new shine and looks clean in normal light. Under a strong light some feather scratches and dust/finger marks can be seen. I have of course given this a test play through both sides and was pleased to find that this plays as good as it looks.
Fisrt thing to say is that the audio is surprisingly strong for a mono recording. I only took one note and that was that at some point midway through one side (forgot to note which) a tiny patch of quiet crackles are heard, perhaps 3 or 4 seconds only and way in the background. Other than that this has no noteworthy audible faults. Playing with no distortion, fading or dragging heard whatsoever, superb strong audio. Quiet breaks and entries and not appearing to suffer any reduction in sound quality due to wear. Certainly playing with very little lessening in sound quality and other than, as stated above, the very occasional unnoteworthy quiet crackle this sounded new.
I will harshly grade this at VG+, obviously its appearance and sound quality are better than graded, I always down-grade if it has been played more than a few times and has feather scratches despite this having a comfortable near mint audio.
Buying for sound quality, this one is for you, super audio, fine appearance, acceptable sleeve.
