THE BEATLES 'SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND' 1967 MONO LP.

This copy has the rare "Fourth Proof" sleeve.

This sleeve has ‘FOURTH   PROOF’  and  ‘A R’   ‘D 13217’ printed on the top flipback of the right hand side of the inner gatefold (see photos).

It also has ‘Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patents Pending’ in the bottom right corner of the rear of the sleeve. Later copies omitted the ‘Patents Pending’ part of the text as the patent had subsequently been granted.

 LP pressed in Great Britain and released on Parlophone PMC 7027.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AS THE VINYL HAS NOT BEEN LOOKED AFTER.

The record has had a lot of plays as there are a lot of spider lines around the centre holes. 

When tilted under normal lighting the surface has dulled and both sides have a lot of surface marks/short, light scratches. However none of these scratches are deep and nasty and only a few are just responsive to the touch.

Under halogen lights both sides do have a lot more light marks visible with those visible in normal light showing up more. 

Surprisingly this plays much much better than you would ever think given it's pretty bad visual appearance.

 Play grades across the range EX to G and overall plays as VG-.

All musical/vocal passages play clearly & brightly. Has no sticks, skips or jumps and no evidence of groove wear.

There is some crackle in the run in/out areas. The first half of side 1 plays well with just a little quiet background crackle, the second half of the side has background crackle which is a little louder although this isn't constant and in places has muffled 'clicks' on the top of the crackle. Side 2 has has light to moderate crackle on and off across the side with a few places, especially in the first half of the side, where it is quite quiet. There are also a few muffled 'clicks' in places and there is some crackle  and a repeating click in the long fade out at the end of side 2. So not the best of copies at all.

Laminated gatefold sleeve made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. grades VG-.

 The spine is worn and almost all the text is illegible. Otherwise there are a few laminate creases and others around the edges but the only storage edge wear is a little in the centre of the lower of the two bottom edges.

Plain white inner grades as EX.

No cut out or original 'Flame' inner.

I dispatch records in brand new, bought in mailers designed for the process. Before placing in the mailer I take LPs out of the sleeve place both in a polysleeve and between two card stiffeners and if there is a picture sleeve I place the LP in a plain sleeve to prevent knifing of the picture sleeve. [all this costs £0.80/single LP].

I USE RECORD COLLECTOR GRADINGS AND USE A +/- WHERE I FEEL THAT IT'S APPROPRIATE.

(M) MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as sealed or unplayed should be mint.

(EX) EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of being played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging may have slight wear and/or creasing.

(VG) VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

(G) GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

(F) FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

(P) POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

(B) BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
