THE BEATLES - " SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND ", Parlophone/EMI Records (PMC 7027 ) Mono, 1967.
Very rare 1967, first UK Mono issue of the classic Beatles LP.
Original laminated gatefold sleeve, also includes original insert and inner sleeve - see photos.
Black and yellow Parlophone label with XEX 637-1/XEX 638-1 matrix numbers. The other stamper numbers in the vinyl appear to be; "6" at 9 o'clock and "M AA" at 3 o'clock on Side A, and "0" at 9 o'clock and "MD T" at 3 o'clock on Side B... at least that's what I interpret them to be, somebody out there with greater knowledge than myself may know something I'm missing.
English issue and pressing.
Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeve has also been kept and will be included with this item).
In the name of getting the auction going, I will start this item at just 99p.
CONDITION:
VINYL = EXCELLENT- (No big scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, only light spindle trails, etc. Under my bright grading lamp, the vinyl's surface carries a few very faint surface marks and paper scuffs, but none of them seem to directly correlate to any audible imperfections. There is some very faint surface noise just audibile during the silent run-in before the beginning of the tracks, but when the music starts, it plays strong and clean from then on - generally free from interuption from distortion, clicks, pops, surface noise, etc. Like all Beatles LPs its been played a few times before, but nowhere as much as most copies and this one has clearly been well looked after and previously been played on a decent turntable. Also, like most well-pressed 60's mono LPs, it carries the light wear it does have very well... if only they'd kept on pressing records to this standard!
Overall, although it is not quite mint, it's imperfections are very slight and would make a good honest copy for someone to play and enjoy it - those searching for a museum piece or a sterile CD sound item might find this particular copy just comes up a little short though.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
SLEEVE = V.G. (No rips, tears, heavy ringwear, etc. That said, there are a few creases in the laminate, the corners and spine are worn, and it's not quite as clean as it once was. Overall, an honest example of an old record sleeve that has been used and shows signs of it, but not abused/trashed - see photos for further clarification
INNER SLEEVE = EX- (Clean, flat, undamaged. Just a bit yellowed where it once was white)
INSERT = EXCELLENT (Flat, clean, undamaged, etc - see photo)
