****************************************************************

This is an original 1st UK pressing in mono with the following 1st matrix numbers, 1st and 3rd mothers and 1st and 2nd stampers:

Side one: XEX 637-1                                 1                           G

Side two: XEX 638-1                                 3                           R

Please note that the G stamper on side one is 'ghosted' as if it has been double-struck. However, I am certain that this is a single G double-struck as opposed to GG. I have included a close-up in the final photo, so you can decide for yourself.

Description
Disc: The vinyl has retained its original sheen with various marks and scuffs on both sides, although despite this, there is almost nothing with any audible impact. I have played the whole album from start to finish and it sounds great with very little to report. For the sake of completeness I would mention the occasional random, solitary click, or a bit of background noise in some of the run-ins/outs, fades, silent grooves and intros, but generally these all play really quietly and even the usually difficult start to side two was good to listen to. All I heard on side one were two small clicks in 'She's Leaving Home', and so I would play-grade side one as Excellent Plus (Ex+) to Near Mint (NM). Most of side two played to a similar standard, but some clicks audible during the first half of 'When I'm Sixty Four' mean that I would play-grade side two overall around Excellent (Ex), although the majority of the side is better than that. Please note that a visual grading would be much lower on account of the surface marks.

Labels: No tears, stickers, writing etc, just some spindle marking. The KT tax code is on side two.

Sleeve: The sleeve has no seam splits, tears, writing, stickers etc, just normal signs of age or use, including wear to the edges and corners and some creases etc.

Inner sleeve: The record wasn't kept in the original red/white inner sleeve and so it has no seam splits or tears etc. However, because the record wasn't inside, it has slipped into the fold of the gatefold sleeve and over a period of years has been creased by this.

Cutouts: No significant issues.

Detracting features not covered above:  None.

All photographs are of the actual item for sale. Please ask any questions before you bid or buy.

Where gradings are given these are based on the UK Record Collector grading system (see below) and are visual gradings only, unless the listing specifically states that it is a play-grading.

I use the UK RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM. This grading system differs from some other grading systems, in particular the Goldmine grading system. Please make sure that you are familiar with the UK record collector grading system before you bid.

Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

Fair: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

Plus (+) or Minus (-) are added where items fall between gradings. I only ever use one plus or minus.
