THE BEATLES
Title : Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band Label : Parlophone Cat No : PMC 7027
Matrix : XEX 637-1 / XEX 638-1 Mothers Stampers : 1-RPP/ 8-POR Issue : UK MONO Press
This is the UK Original of 'Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band' by The Beatles. This press is complete with the original Garrod & Lofthouse laminated 'Patents pending' flipback sleeve, red and white inner sleeve and Peter Blake insert. The record clearly states 'The Gramophone Co Ltd' and 'Sold In UK' label text. It has the early earliest 1 mother stamp and the earliest matrix.
The record is in Very Good+ condition. The vinyl has a sensational lightly played bright gloss. There is no whitening of the grooves and no sign of heavy play at all, there are just a couple of small marks and a few very fine hairlines. On playing the sound is rich, the voices are sharp and the background is still loud and very clear. There is just the slightest occasional noise but it has no effect on the enjoyment of the record. The yellow and black label is bold and completely clean with bright yellow and clear silver text and only the slightest spindle wear.
The earliest bright Peter Blake insert is Excellent. The essential red and white inner is in Very Good condition. There are a couple of edge splits otherwise the whites are clean and the red is very solid. The sleeve still feels firm.
The Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve is in Very Good condition. The laminate has bright polished shine and the colours are still vivid. The whole gatefold still feels solid, there is just some corner and edge wear. There is a little spine wear. The inside still has that new laminated noise as you open it. The top flipbacks are fully intact and sealed.
