Description
THE BEATLES
Title : Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band Label : Parlophone Cat No : PMC 7027
Matrix : XEX 637-1 / XEX 638-1 Issue : UK MONO 1st Press
This is the UK 1st Press of 'Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band' by The Beatles. This press is complete with the earliest 'patents pending' Garrod & Lofthouse laminated flipback sleeve and Peter Blake insert. The record clearly states 'The Gramophone Co Ltd' and 'Sold In UK' label text.
The record is in Very Good+ condition. The vinyl has a sensational bright gloss, there are just a couple of very light marks and a few wispy hairlines on both sides. This record has only been lightly played, there is no groove whitening and no significant marks at all. As such the sound is superb. The voices are sharp and the background is still loud and very clear. There is just the slightest occasional noise but it does not spoil the enjoyment of the album at any point. The yellow and black label is bold and completely clean with bright yellow and clear silver text and only the slightest spindle wear.
The earliest bright Peter Blake insert is Excellent. Extremely firm and clean.
The Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve is in Very Good condition. The laminate has a bright shine and the colours are still vivid. The gatefold is still very solid. There is some corner wear and a couple of laminate creases and the spine has a scuff but is still firm. The back cover is clean and bright with clear lyrics. The inside still has the original laminate creak as you open it. The top flipbacks are fully intact and sealed and the colours are superb.
