REPLICA OF THE WORLD'S RAREST RECORD
THE BEATLES/THE QUARRYMEN IN SPITE OF ALL THE DANGER/THAT'LL BE THE DAY
Recorded in 1958 by the group then known as "The Quarrymen", the lineup consisted of Paul, George, John, Colin Hanton and John "Duff" Lowe. It was recorded in Percy Philips' home studio in Kensington, Liverpool, and the group only had the money to pay for one single copy. Each band member kept the acetate disc for a week. Lowe was the last to have it, keeping it for nearly 25 years. In 1981, Lowe attempted to sell it at auction, but McCartney intervened and purchased it from him
McCartney had engineers restore as much of the record's sound quality as possible and then made approximately 50 copies of the single that he gave as personal gifts to family and friends. Record Collector magazine has the original pressing as the most valuable record in existence
In 2000, John "Duff" Lowe had replicas made and this is one of those. I have seen a few bootleg copies of the acetate on ebay (see popsike website) over the years but never one of these in it's complete format which were done by original Quarrymen band member Lowe.
These replicas are identical in every way to the original and has a short narrative and personally signed certificate of authenticity alongside the records.This is numbered 278 and also has a CD of his experiences in the band and the recording of the acetate. This has the envelope additionally signed and numbered by John Duff Lowe
