THE BEATLES – THE BEATLES (THE WHITE ALBUM)
This is a superb first Mono pressing of the Beatles classic double ‘White Album’ released in 1968 on the Apple label with the catalogue number PMC 7067-8. The matrix numbers are XEX 709-1 4 MR / XEX 710-1 5 AL / XEX 711 4 ML / XEX 712-1 2 HD and the unique front cover number is 0171492. The fully laminated gatefold sleeve with flip-over inside edges is a top opener (as the genuine first editions of this record should be) and the package has both its original black paper inner sleeves and the fold-out poster insert! This is simply one of the best mono first editions of this Beatles classic that I’ve ever seen!
The condition of the record is fantastic playing across all four sides with sensational clear audio (the differences in this mono mix are really noticeable) and both records just have to grade as an Excellent+ at the very least although many would grade this even higher than that! It’s so hard to find a record that has been cared for enough to still provide a pleasurable playing experience; so often these discs were thrown around or taken to parties and inevitably they’d become scratched, warped or just totally unlistenable so when they show up like this with sound quality that truly delivers in audio quality it really is to be treasured! The background noise across all four sides is almost non-existent, just one solitary non-intrusive pop in Savoy Truffle is literally all there is and really that’s nit picking to the extreme when enjoying a listening experience like this on top quality vinyl that’s almost half a century old. Vintage classic vinyl doesn’t come much better than this!
The cover is fully intact and this is also in brilliantly well preserved order grading as a strong Excellent+ So many times you find covers like this they are written on or have bad edge scuffs and seam splits but none of that is the case here! The only thing I can say about this package as a minor side note is that the four photos of the Beatles are no longer present but, while that would without a doubt make this absolutely close to perfect, that is the one element of this whole package that is easier to find and replace cheaply. To find the cover itself, the correct first issue cover at that, in such incredible order with the correct inner sleeves and original records to match really is a treat that cannot be missed out on!
