RARE MONO, VERY HARD TO FIND IN THIS ALL ROUND RESPECTABLE CONDITION, WITH ALL INSERTS.
Arguably one of most INFLUENTIAL and ICONIC Albums of the 20th Century, this is an ORIGINAL 1968 UK Apple **FIRST ISSUE MONO** TWO Vinyl LP Set for The Beatles WHITE Album, entitled ‘The BEATLES’.
This Set is 100% COMPLETE, with TWO ORIGINAL UK FIRST ISSUE MONO VINYL LPs, Four Full Colour GLOSSY PHOTOGRAPHS – one of each Beatle, a Large Format, Double Sided, Lyric POSTER printed by Garrod and Lofthouse, Two ORIGINAL MATT BLACK INNER BAGS, The set is housed within its ORIGINAL, First Issue, Fully Laminated TOP OPENING, NUMBERED 0046921 GATEFOLD Sleeve.
LP Description:
The TWO First Issue MONO Vinyl LPs are on the traditional DARK GREEN Apple label, with ‘Sold in UK Subject to resale. ‘WITHOUT AN E.M.I. Recording LABEL REFERECE’ and with ‘Mfd. In UK’ label text to ALL four sides of the record labels.
All four record labels are in Excellent condition, showing some light centre spindle lines, with NO hand writing or damage to the printed text.
Disc 1, Side 1 matrix XEX 709-1 & Side 2: XEX 710-1.
Disc 1, Side 1 stampers: 5TD & Side 2 stampers are: 7 LH.
Disc 2, Side 3 matrix: XEX 711-3 & Side 4: XEX 712-1.
Disc 2, Side 3 stampers: 1 RD & Side 4 stampers: 3 RR.
The two Vinyl LPs are in Excellent Minus condition, both discs are very clean and undamaged, and show only light surface hairlines, and a few light surface scratches.
Both of the inner bags are in Very Good Plus condition, and both have a couple of small seam splits and light creasing.
….And are housed in an ORIGINAL, FULLY LAMINATED Garrod and Lofthouse GATEFOLD Sleeve. This FIRST ISSUE Sleeve is TOP OPENING and NUMBERED 0046921, printed to the lower portion of the front of the sleeve. The wording ‘The BEATLES’ is embossed a little way up above the number. The sleeve opens out to reveal black and white portraits of each of The Beatles together with the track listing, the gatefold sleeve is in Very Good Plus condition, the sleeve shows some age toning, light corner bumps and light wear to the edges, the spine edge of the sleeve shows wear and missing laminate, the printed wording is difficult to read, there is a tiny piece of laminate missing on the front of the sleeve near to the edge.
There are Four Full Colour glossy photographs – one of each Beatle, the photographs are in Excellent condition, with no tearing or pin holes.
And an ORIGINAL Large Format, Double Sided, Lyric POSTER printed by Garrod and Lofthouse, in Very Good Plus condition, the poster shows age toning and light creasing, and has a couple of small tears to the natural folds.
Play Quality:
Having carefully played both LPs, all FOUR sides play well throughout, with some mild background crackle, and the occasional light click, there are NO skips a very nice CLEAR Mono sound.
Not surprisingly, Beatles UK White album mono’s are EXTREMELY SOUGHT AFTER, and this is a respectable example. They are becoming INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO FIND in ORIGINAL, and COMPLETE condition.
