NOTES

Initial numbered edition with top opening G & L gatefold sleeve, black inners, poster & 4 colour prints, dark green Apple labels with ? & "Sold In The UK...." text.

Eric Clapton uncredited on A7 for contractual reasons.

This Misprint First Press was released in error, omitting the text "An E.M.I. Recording" on some of the labels, so a second version The Beatles was promptly released with this added to the corrected labels.

CONDITION

The condition of the Laminated Outer Gatefold Sleeve EXCELLENT +

A VERY CLEAN, LOVELY EXAMPLE OF THIS SLEEVE

As you probably know this notorious white sleeve is generally in very  poor condition,

 but not this one !!!

No unwanted writing or doodles anywhere, No laminate lifting and no cardboard creasing either. The top opening edges are  free from fraying, the fully legible spine is fully intact.

"The BEATLES" remains beautifully embossed upon the front cover, and the interior flip-backs remain in great shape.

The whole gatefold still has a lovely clean white glossy feel about it and remains very presentable.

Definitely worth an Excellent Plus Grade

ONE OF THE CLEANEST IVE SEEN !!! SUPERB AFTER 52 YEARS

In normal daylight

the appearance of each of the vinyls is VG+

Each vinyl is nice and weighty and completely flat, and each side of each vinyl has retained a nice black glossy mirror like sheen and they really do gleam in normal light.

Under a brighter light each side has a few NON FEELABLE AND VERY LIGHT hairlines that do come into view, but none are "feelable" or appear to be below the surface with all appearing to be superficial only.

No effect on playback whatsoever !!!!!  But again I should stress that there is nothing that is feelable and nothing that is obviously below the surface. nothing intrusive and certainly nothing to diminish the overall impressive audio quality.

Clearly each vinyl has been played but not excessively, evident by the fact each label shows only feint spindle lines to the centre, clean condition after 52 years. lovely !!!!

The Labels are Excellent +

Wonderfully impressive labels with all text, all colouring, and the iconic dark green (not lighter green as on subsequent non-first press releases) APPLE logo with black writing upon the smooth white background all remaining in great condition with some very faint spindle trails on each label.

No "An EMI recording" present on sides 1 & 2, Therefore RARE UK First Press Misprint !!

The Quality of the MONO audio is VG ++  to  EXCELLENT.

There is great tone and clarity throughout even at higher volume and frequencies. There are no jumps, repeats, skips or obvious clicking and background crackle is at a minimum on  some light background interference can be heard during some of the interludes and quieter moments I stress though, that despite these relatively minor glitches the sound quality and listening experience remains impressive overall.

A professional clean ( which I do not have access to during lockdown) may eliminate any background crackle and promote the audio experience to an EX grading but being honest it is very minimal and only between a few tracks, once music kicks in it is not evident.

The tracks are :

Side 1 :

1. BACK IN THE U.S.S.R.

2. DEAR PRUDENCE

3. GLASS ONION

4. OB-LA-DI, OB-LA-DA

5. WILD HONEY PIE

6. THE CONTINUING STORY OF BUNGALOW BILL

7. WHILE MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS

8. HAPPINESS IS A WARM GUN

Side 2 :

1. MARTHA MY DEAR

2. I'M SO TIRED

3. BLACKBIRD

4. PIGGIES

5. ROCKY RACCOON

6. DON'T PASS ME BY

7. WHY DON'T WE DO IT IN THE ROAD

8. I WILL

9. JULIA

Side 3 :

1. BIRTHDAY

2. YER BLUES

3. MOTHER NATURE'S SON

4. EVERYBODY'S GOT SOMETHING TO HIDE EXCEPT ME AND MY MONKEY

5. SEXY SADIE

6. HELTER SKELTER

7. LONG LONG LONG

Side 4 :

1. REVOLUTION 1

2. HONEY PIE

3. SAVOY TRUFFLE

4. CRY BABY CRY

5. REVOLUTION 9

6. GOOD NIGHT

THE ORIGINAL BLACK INNER SLEEVES ARE VG ++

No seam splits, but one 1" tear from centre hole on one sleeve only

INCLUDES Original Lyric Poster and x4 Beatle photos,

George and John photos have sellotape residue on corners as does the poster in a couple of areas. The inner sleeves have also had sellotape repairs (SEE PICTURES)

In summary a nicely impressive condition and highly presentable copy of this fiercely sought after 1968 very first UK mono press Beatles classic -

a "must" for any serious Beatles vinyl collection and only continuing to gain in value.
