Arguably one of most INFLUENTIAL and ICONIC Albums of the 20th Century, this is an ORIGINAL 1968 UK Apple **FIRST ISSUE MONO** TWO Vinyl LP Set for The Beatles WHITE Album, entitled ‘The BEATLES’.
This SUPERB Set is 100% COMPLETE, with TWO ORIGINAL UK FIRST ISSUE MONO VINYL LPs, Four ORIGINAL Full Colour GLOSSY PHOTOGRAPHS – one of each Beatle, PLUS PHOTO SPACER, an ORIGINAL Large Format, Double Sided, Lyric POSTER printed by Garrod and Lofthouse1968, Two ORIGINAL MATT BLACK INNER BAGS. The set is housed within its ORIGINAL, First Issue, Fully Laminated TOP OPENING, NUMBERED 0041167 GATEFOLD Sleeve.
LP Description:
The TWO ORIGINAL Issue MONO Vinyl LPs are on the traditional DARK GREEN Apple label, with ‘Sold in UK Subject to resale label text, ‘An E.M.I. Recording’ to side 1 & 2 of the record labels, and ‘Mfd. In UK’ label text to ALL four sides of the record labels.
Disc 1, Side 1 matrix XEX 709-2 & Side 2: XEX 710-1.
Disc 1, Side 1 stampers: 3 GMT & Side 2 stampers are: 7 GGT.
Disc 2, Side 3 matrix: XEX 711-3 & Side 4: XEX 712-1.
Disc 2, Side 3 stampers: 1 GGH & Side 4 stampers: 2 GGM.
The TWO 12” Vinyl LPs are in Excellent Minus condition, both vinyl discs are very clean, showing only a few light surface hairlines, there are NO scratches or scuffs, just superb vinyl surfaces.
And come in their ORIGINAL Matt Black Die Cut Inner Bags.
Both original black inner are in excellent minus condition, there are NO seam splits, one bag has a small tear to the die-cut centre, and tiny tears to the opening edge, and just some light creases are visible.
….And are housed in an ORIGINAL, FULLY LAMINATED Garrod and Lofthouse GATEFOLD Sleeve. This FIRST ISSUE Sleeve is TOP OPENING and NUMBERED 0041167, printed to the lower portion of the front of the sleeve. ‘The BEATLES’ is embossed a little way up above the number. The sleeve opens out to reveal black and white portraits of each of The Beatles together with the track listing, the gatefold sleeve is in very nice Excellent condition, a clean firm undamaged sleeve, showing mild age toning, and a couple of small brown stains to the bottom of the inner gatefold, and reverse of the sleeve, there is also age tining to the spine.
There are Four ORIGINAL Full Colour GLOSSY PHOTOGRAPHS – one of each Beatle, and a photo spacer all in Near Mint condition, no damage to any of the photos.
And an ORIGINAL Large Format, Double Sided, Lyric POSTER printed by Garrod and Lofthouse 1968, in Excellent Plus condition, there is NO damage to the poster, NO pin holes, NO tearing.
Play Quality:
Having carefully played both LPs, all FOUR sides play well throughout, with some mild background crackle on the quieter tracks, and the occasional light click, there are NO skips a very nice CLEAR Mono sound.
Not surprisingly, Beatles UK White album MONOS are EXTREMELY SOUGHT AFTER, and this is respectable example. They are becoming INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO FIND in ORIGINAL, and COMPLETE condition.
