THE BEATLES – WHITE ALBUM ORIGINAL  1ST ISSUE IN MONO, FEATURING A VERY LOW UNIQUE SERIAL NUMBER OF 0017104.

1968 PMC 7067/7068 -  APPLE RECORD LABEL.

A FIRST EDITION MONO PRESSING IN ORIGINAL CONDITION.  FEATURING THE UNIQUE AND VERY LOW SERIAL NUMBER OF 0017104

CONDITION:

MAIN SLEEVE:  the double album gatefold sleeve has ‘The Beatles’ embossed onto the front and a unique individual serial number of  0017140. This number  appears very clear and sharp,  the records are accessed from the top.  To the top right, rear there is NO print confirming this to be the genuine MONO sleeve.  The sleeve has little in the way of the usual discolouration and is white and very clean. It features the exposed flipbacks. See photo the condition of the spine is poor and none of the text on the spine is readable,  apart from that,  the sleeve is in near excellent condition.    There are a few light scuffs and creases.

INNER SLEEVES: features the two original BLACK inners, one is in fair condition but is complete,  the other is in good + condition.

PHOTOS: please note the four photos are not present.

POSTER:  is in very good condition and has no biro writing on and NO blue tack residue etc. The poster is very clean and white, there are some light age marks and there has been a cellotape repair across the two main horizontal folds on the poster.

VINYL:  the two records are of the original ‘thick set’ heavy  vinyl,  the first record is in good to very good condition, the audio is good and plays well with no skip or jumps.  The matrix nos. are XEX 709-1, and XEX 710-1 and the mother/stampers are  3 LP and 4 GRL.  The second record it is in very good condition, with a few light marks to the surface, the audio is good and  plays well with no skip or jumps.  The matrix nos. are XEX 711-1,  and XEX 712 -1 and the mother/stampers are   2 RL, and  4  TR. 

THE LABELS:  are in very good condition, showing on each side their original DARK green Apple colours.  ‘An EMI recording’ does NOT  appear on any of the labels,  confirming that they are early records, all the labels have the text:  ‘Sold in the UK’ etc.  The George and Ringo songs are listed as  ‘Apple Publishing’ .

I am using the official grading system from Record Collector Magazine.

Grading System

The seven standard condition categories and a description of what each one means are listed below:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
