Description

THE BEATLES:- THE BEATLES or THE WHITE ALBUM. 1968 APPLE 1st Press, COVER EXCELLENT,  VINYL'S Very Good.

Hi, I started collecting vinyl Lp's and 45's in 1971, I have 20,000 + which I have moved now 4 times, and about to move again next year. So it's time to let at least half go. Most are in at least Excellent condition.  I can't listen to them all, so most will only have visual grading, any with a high start price, I will listen too, and play grade.

ALBUM INFO:

This is the ORIGINAL UK FIRST PRESS "MONO" BEATLES - THE BEATLES.... In 1968 most people owned Dansette's or the old fashion type of Radio Grams, I don't need to tell you how many Lp's got scratched and ruined by heavy weighted arms and metal needles.  This is the very 1st UK press... Only the original 500,000 were made with the storage opening at the top so few now are left in circulation as they have been squirreled away in collections or worse thrown away, this was my dads copy, I got his records in the 70's. Demand on release was brisk, this being the third Beatles album to debut at # 1. Spending 8 weeks at the top, so most of the MONO copies went in the first 8 weeks as only the lower numbers are MONO! this album was the last Beatles album to be issued in the UK with an alternate MONO mix, I believe that only the first 250,000 were press in MONO and now hardly ever turns up in this condition , or any reasonable condition! The Beatles first studio album, in 18 months was released on the 1st December 1968 and now critically acclaimed.... A collectors dream. The cover is in stunning condition, made by Garrod & Lofthouse and is near mint, and you would be hard pushed to find better. This version release of the Album was issued only a few months later. Most albums would be classed as 1st issue but due to the Label change six weeks after it's initial release.

Well as you can see from the photographs this is a superb copy of The BEATLES 1968 beat album in Very Good condition! THE BEATLES - THE BEATLES ( WHITE ALBUM). PMC 7068 on APPLE. I've played the album on my Pioneer PL- 550X The vinyl lays flat and there are NO warps. The sound is STILL GREAT WITH NO DISTORTION OR JUMPS! there are a few pops here and there and a little background crackle but  A truly wonderful listen. The stampers are AL..Mothers..3 on side 1...and RM with Mothers...2 6 on side 2. On the second Lp the stampers are HG with Mothers... 2 on side 3. with stampers... HG with Mothers...2.  which is one the very first as far as I know. Even the original inner sleeve is unsplit and has just a few creases. The gatefold cover, has inner flip backs on the inside which is only available on and unique to this early run.

The album is a masterpiece!!!  placed it at number 1o of all time British Albums by Rolling Stone Magazine. My record has no distortion and sounds clear and loud, STUNNING PLAYBACK an overall enjoyable listen!  The sleeve is laminated without any Major creasing, The Labels have a few light spindle marks. NO WRITING OR MARKS. The Vinyl is Bright and Shiney under strong light quite a few light marks and heavier withdraw marks which do affect play.  An opportunity to own a Mega Rare true beat classic.

VINYL:

Very Good. The vinyl is still bright and shows signs of being played, There are NO deep penetrating scratches, just a few light spindle marks  visible under strong light, the main marks on the vinyl are removal mark caused by handling, I have photographed please have a look, these do not affect play.

SLEEVE:

EXCELLENT . (front) Wonderfully clean laminated cover, with no laminate lift or damage, sharp edges and opening no scuffing or rubbing damage, slight storage ring wear, you would be hard push to find better. (Back) White,  somehow it has survived without picking up any staining or writing,  as a lot of albums have owners names in biro on them, they were not cheap at the time at £3.+ the average wage being £35 at the time. Most copies were played to death. This Gatefold Sleeve is in hard to beat condition.

INNER SLEEVE:

EXCELLENT-. 2 Original Black rice paper type, being the very fragile inner sleeve is a great indicator of the amount of usage the album has had. I would say these inners are great, and considering how fragile these are there pretty good.....they are 45 years old, quite unbelievable intact condition.

LABELS:

Clean, no damage or writing.

AUDIO GRADING:

VERY GOOD!! One of the greatest openings of all time, the Jet landing!!! Jo, Jo, was a Man!!! Wonderful, there are so many copies which are played to death, This copy plays with both channels playing without distortion, even pristine looking copies can hide the damage distortion caused by a damaged or blunt stylus. The playback is bright and sharp with a little background crackle here and there, an exceptional playing copy, yes I listened all the way through loved it, yes there is one or two pops but a pro-clean might help, the record is so loud in playback it does make you wonder why we started buying CD's... There are NO JUMPS, DISTORTION, OR FREQUENCIES DAMAGE.

GRADING SYSTEM: In order to assist everyone who buys and sells rare discs, Record Collector magazine has originated a set of standards for the condition of second-hand records, I have added a (+) or (-) to my gradings where applicable.

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
