Label Conditions & Overview: All four in supreme, bordering on stunning condition. Ultra clean and incredibly fresh with an attractiveness to please the most discerning Beatles’ collector and fan. Without doubt these four have hardly ever been handled and the records played little. An amazing example that came from a fantastic Beatles collection owned by a connoisseur and life-long Beatles collector. I will be 100 per cent honest here. The only reason this fantastic ‘White’ is on offer is because the original owner, after many years of searching, at last found a practically Mint, twice-played copy as an upgrade (and at huge cost). If the upgrade copy bettered this one significantly, it must have been something extraordinary for sure. Personally, I have never seen better labels on a mono ‘White’ before and without any doubt, this pair of records have been played very few times, and when so, with great care. I would be pretty certain too, this set has avoided practically any use on a mono record-player. The sound on all four sides is near pristine with any unwanted sound minuscule. Full focus and clarity retained throughout with no distortion, clipping or sound degrading whatsoever. Any vinyl collector will know the perils the mono-era record faced, especially the very popular titles and they hardly got more popular or bigger than this. The owner seldom played his rare and prized records, thus they stayed in outstanding condition. This set has aged little and offers nigh-on reference, mastertape quality. Being honest again, I question my own sanity even letting this go, that is the massive dilemma a record dealer faces when something this fine comes along. Well the decision is made and here it is – my first ‘White’ for a considerable amount of time. Most around are what you would expect: worn, played many, many times, scratched and degraded badly. Sound quality, noisy, often distorted and rarely focused for full duration, often with loud and numerous pops and clicks. Damaged, ugly covers often badly dinked, creased, torn, split and falling apart or laminate shed. The inserts and inners, even if present, tatty, faded, torn and wrecked. All these are facts, we have all seen and heard such copies putting one like this into real context. The owner, whose favourite band of all-time are indeed The Beatles, has owned this for many years and only now did a near pristine Mint copy come his way to tempt him to upgrade this cherished mono copy. It is one I feel many, if not most fans will cherish too.

Cat Number: PMC 7067/8.

Mode / Speed: Mono / 33.3 rpm.

Warps: Assume all records I offer have no warping of any significance and all tracking is easy and effortless and should play on all turntables and even ‘budget’ decks.

Weight of these Records: 129 / 138 grams. These about average.

Country of Manufacture: England.

Rarity & Detail: Not a rare album per se, but it is harder to find in mono. The mono format by this time was in decline and unlike the stereo version, was not pressed in any great numbers beyond the 60s. Much is made of the number on the cover’s front as well and obviously the really low numbered examples are hugely valuable – but remember – each cover is unique in it’s own way too. In ‘White Album’ terms this one has a relatively low number with a two zero prefix, this being No.0050192 (please see this detail in close-up). The conditions of this set a vital factor too: a standard original complete ‘White’ had – two records – two black inner sleeves – a numbered top opening cover – a UK printed poster – 4 portrait pictures of the band. Every element of the set were fragile in their own way and far fewer examples survive with all the pieces in fine or very fine condition. The poster and pictures often mounted, so pin-holes or tape marks are common as well as fading and tears. The black inners are incredibly fragile, made with soft paper and only one in very many survive untorn, split or creased. The cover, although protected with laminate, does age and degrade. And obviously, those who chose the mono mode back in 1968 did so in most-all cases to play the records on a mono record player or system. I have stated so many times in my listings what that usually meant. Tracking weights were vast, the stylus wore quickly and often chipped and were rarely aligned. All factors to wear the delicate information within the grooves, hence so many mono records are rendered unlistenable. Especially when expected to play on modern, high-quality stereo systems as many are these days. Just one arm drop or jolt and the damage was done with a deep, penetrating scratch or small crator inflicted. No wonder many mono records jump, stick or simply sound horrible with clipping and distortion with multiple repeating clicks or crackle. That beautiful original focus now broken and marred with murky crackle. The vocals echo with cringing noise and the complex instrumentation muddy and lost in the constant surface noise. To hear this monumental masterpiece – truly one of my favourite albums of all-time – that offers sound almost of the quality of when it was first pressed, it’s a thing of immense beauty. This being played on a highly revealing system fronted by the legendary Linn LP12, I feel it’s an almost unfair ask for a mono record to perform to audiophile standard – but this copy really does. All the songs sound superb with little unwanted and that is very unusual. Let’s be clear, knowing the previous owner of this record well and for some time, he would not accept anything less. His new copy must be of considerable brilliance to better this copy - one played only twice in fact speaks for itself. That said, this one looks very little played in-itself. Going by the stunning fours labels, hardly at all in fact. I never count spindle marks and make guesses, but for sure, the few I see, the more I like it. And, as stated above, all four here have barely any at all, so judge for yourself. In terms of rarity, a 0050192 copy of no less rare than an ultra low number copy – logic tells me every copy has a unique number and this album was issued in vast numbers. I consider the conditions the most important factor and the playing quality of the records THE most important of all. But this copy excels all-round and the both records and their sound are exceptional which does make it a rare copy. I would be certain this one could and would be a huge upgrade for many worn and poor sounding monos still out there. This not only looks terrific, it plays beautifully and gave me that rare tingle factor several times. This is my first mono ‘White’ experience since I invested in a major upgrade of my LP12 last year and fitted a new Rondo Red moving coil cartridge. I heard sounds and detail that almost took me into the studio itself – the mono mix quite different to the stereo – this almost left me aghast. Both mixes are essential, the mono far harder to find this clean. One like IS rare, make no mistake about it.

Brief Info: Firstly, let me be clear, I do not offer this album often or lightly, such a iconic classic has to be of a certain standard for me to even contemplate listing – this gem more than measures up. Within the history of popular music, there are fewer monumental issues than this massive double set. How on earth to follow the groundbreaking ‘Sgt Pepper’ would prove a challenge almost to vast to contemplate, but The Beatles offered the world an album of quite stunning brilliance, and for this listener anyway, this is better than it’s more famous predecessor. A double set that crams in such a blend of variety and styles, it still is difficult to take in it’s brilliance even after 43 years after release. I do not wish to dwell to long on the material included as most-all fans and vinyl collectors will know this album well enough anyway, I prefer to explain what is on offer and the conditions of the pieces that make up this legendary set. That said, there is not a wasted second on this album and for me, this is the very best album The Beatles ever made. Now experimenting with various styles and sounds culminating in the psychdelic collage ‘Revolution No 9’ that many found unlistenable, but I love it. It gave clues to the avant garde direction Lennon was about to offer on his first solo works. The softer songs are simply divine and then there is McCartney’s ‘Helter Skelter’ – the most manic song the band ever made – a breathtaking track that sends shivers down the spine and one ever-linked to the notorious killer Charles Manson. Raw, loud and uncompromising, a song of utter brilliance – the contrast in the following gentle song that closes side three, ‘Long Long Long’ is pure genius. The contrast and variety of the material is like a kaleidoscope of treasures flooding from the speakers. What a joy to hear on such a clean mono copy too – this my best ever example – not that I have offered many in my 10 years on Ebay. I will not offer inferior or poor sounding copies just for the sake of it. Why would anyone want to hear a crackly, click-ridden, worn-out copy of this evergreen classic? Truly, I would rather listen to the latest CD versions than that, even though they still cannot compare or offer the drama, detail and pure sense or reality this wonderful mono set does. This is a terrific, complete and quite early made mono copy. One to thrill all but the most discerning perfectionist who (if indeed possible) demands or strives for a practically new copy (as did the previous owner) – such examples are ultra rare and command massive prices. This copy only gives the smallest hints or clues to it’s substantial age and for me, looks and sounds just right. A wonderful time is guaranteed for any winning bidder.

This Cover’s Potential for Wear: High: a highly deceptive cover which is fully laminated with minimal graphics and none on the front and back at all. So why does this cover not wear well? Firstly, being white it tends to yellow and darken with age, light being a major factor as well as many people in the 60s being smokers (often with a heavy habit). This era with no smoking restrictions, their relative cheap cost, fashion and far less information about how bad it is for you, meant, a high percentage of the population did it. Pale and white covers were badly tinged with brown nicotine staining – we have all seen them – I have never been a smoker myself, but have seen numerous collections from a smoker’s household, and the results are less than pleasing. This is why so many album covers have brown spines with the rest being less affected – most collections stored within racks using the spine as identification reference – it was why it put there for let’s face it. Even though this cover is fully laminate protected, it is, in most-all cases, seen darkened, browned or yellowed. Double gatefold sets tend to weaken due to the load they hold, this results in laminate issues like creasing, peeling and lifting – many dulled – that lovely original shiny surface and freshness lost forever. A cover that just seems to attractive corner dinks and even tears. To find one that has little of the aforementioned is hard, but this one delivers in many respects. It has aged slightly but has little really to fault and importantly, looks really nice. It will take something very special (like I guess it’s replacement) to better it significantly and realistically, available ones do not get seen or offered too often better. It will be posted FREE of charge to anywhere in the world and double boxed for ultimate protection.

Cover Grade and Format: EXCELLENT(++): a fully laminated gatefold format with the records entering on the top edges. This has it’s unique, and still relatively low number of No.0050192 which can be seen on my close-up picture. The title ‘The BEATLES’ is embossed on the front. Inside has the four band portraits with two external flipbacks on the right edges. The song titles and printer’s imprint which is Garrod & Lofthouse International Ltd are included. Fairly basic in design but still one of the most iconic and sort-after ones ever made. The spine carries both the mono and stereo catalogue numbers.

Cover Laminate – Front & Back: Both sides are amongst the very best I have seen, certainly for some considerable time for sure. Firstly, this has only light traces of discolouration or darkening and has been stored for many years inside a non-smoking environment – that a bonus for a start – but plenty more to follow. Both sides are still shiny, clear and fresh looking with any surface marks few, fine and faint. Just ultra fine surface hairlines, odd faint small scuff or faint press trace seen under light. Any traces of friction rubs or dulling are very slight and faint indeed. This also has been heavy-duty cover protected for decades, thus the surfaces have received little handling at all and any exposure to light minimal. Two other hugely significant factors are the lack of creasing and practically total adhesion. Incredibly, this has barely any creasing at all, even fine surface edge types have been pretty much avoided and there are no corner dinks. or heavy scuffs. Laminate application is superb with no manufacture creases or lines at all. Just a little very small and minor burr traces on the top entrance edges that few, if any will avoid totally. Here as tiny and few as is almost realistically possible, a cover has to be gripped to allow access of the records and personally, I am not one for tipping out records upside down. The solidity of the laminate is simply fantastic, the only trace of lifting is around the embossed title on the front which is totally normal and completely unavoidable of course. Here, minimal anyway and simply little short of when made. What a difference this makes to any cover, there is not even trace on the spine edges and any flaking on the spine is minimal and tiny too. Both solds retain full laminate cover with no cracking or abrasions. The spine area in particular is so often seen devoid of laminate as the act of opening and closing will cause it to crack and peel off – emphasising just how lightly used this cover is and well stored too. With close scrutiny under light, a very faint record impression can just be seen each side, but again, at this great age, it’s a near impossible ask not to have mere traces. The important No.0050192 number on the front is still sharp and defined and obviously, easily readable. Over time, this also can fade and even erode totally. If this cover is cleaned or polished, this fragile detail can and will rub off which would prove disasterous for the more discerning collector, have no fears with this one, it’s very sharp and visible as my picture will reitterate and prove. My memory does not go back far enough to state if this cover was ever a pure white when new, I think more an off-white was probably correct for the originals. In terms of ageing and darkening, I consider this one only very mild indeed and any present simply gives it that classic vintage look that many collectors deem just right for a cover of this great age. The lack of wear and damage is significant good news and I feel many, if not most collectors will enjoy owning it.

Cover Inner Gatefold: The inside is in superb condition with little wear or blemishing at all. It retains that lovely off-white colour with again, any darkening modestly mild. The centre area of the hinge retains FULL laminate with NO cracking at all – the surface still unbroken or scuffed which is little short of remarkable. It still offers a gentle creak when opened which for a double set is a huge ask. Retaining fantastic freshness, shine and clarity, the black and white band protraits look magnificent. Any creasing light and very few indeed, any record impression equally, light and faint. Even the top opening edge ends are burr-free, crisp and sharp – remarkably so and let me be very clear, this is 100 per cent guaranteed, untrimmed or tampered with any way. Beware of any working edge that is ultra razor sharp. The two flipbacks are in wonderful condition as well: both solidly adhered with just a couple of ultra fine hairline surface creases on each. The ends are grime-line free and totally unburred and crisp. Just the bottom left tip darkened, but tiny. An inside of near reference standard and it’s those fine details that makes one exceptional like the near perfect flipback construction and lack of damage or wear – both shine like new. All the four main faces of this cover, which being honest is fairly flimsy, are in superb condition and defy their great age (and popularity).

Top Edges: These are the very vulnerable opening edges, hence avoiding wear totally is near impossible and again, beware of trimming. Both here are in very solid and little worn conditions. As stated already, a few tiny burr traces on the front and even less on the back. No tears and any thickening minimal and no feathering whatsoever. Just about enough to remind the cover has been very lightly used for access of the records, but reitterate the term ‘just about’. Given the facts, these delicate edges are almost as neat and sharp as they will get from natural, very light usage.

Bottom Edges: Both are thick, straight and practically unworn up to the corner tips. These have darkened with the right pair rubbed.

Right Edge(s), and Type: Just one tiny surface chip on the front that only just registers viewed end-on. That apart, both are superb, these are closed of course, this is a top-loader. Only later ones had standard side openings. As per the bottom edges, these are very smooth and unscuffed to the fingertip test and again are straight. A cover that naturally still lies almost flat when closed on a hard surface.

Spine and Text: A very impressive spine given all the facts. One of the few I have seen or had that retains most-all of it’s laminate. Most peel and quite badly once it starts. Just natural opening and closing of this cover means it forms a central crease. This adds stress to the laminate which eventually cracks, dries out and peels. Often this cover is devoid of laminate on the spine at all, then the white surface goes brown or grubbies and even the text can erode and disappear totally. Here, a few fine cracks but any traces of flaking are tiny, few and faint and all text present and unworn. The centre has a mild crease and. unless an unopened one can be found (really likely eh?), all will have one. A bit but here too, the text has barely sunken into the crease which is only shallow, so all can be easily read. Solid, straight with barely any compression and folded square. So the edges all meet up very closely and parallel which makes a big difference to neatness and appearance for the more discerning collector. Both hinge folds are unstressed and solid as when made with barely even a scuff trace with full laminate retention.

Corners: All the corners retain superb, crisp shape and definition – the lack of dinking is a massive and unusual factor which is tremendous news – most all ones I have seen usually have, often heavy corner bashes and creases. All here have avoided any at all which is incredible. The spine pair are superb with even better than excellent definition retained. Very similar for the top right set. Only the bottom right pair have small tip rubs that have darkened but all the right ones retain super shape as well.

Cover Summary: I realise how important this cover is to serious Beatles’ collectors and so it should be. So I make no excuse for a full and detailed description of all areas. When a cover has a lot to offer, I think it only fair to mention the fact. I am not saying this is perfect, but it does have little to really fault. Believe me, if this cover was not of a very high standard, the previous owner would not have entertained owning for a vast number of years. It was like an old friend to him, and only an incredible, practically Mint one was deemed good enough to make him decide to part with it (and to fund it’s considerable expense). This is a superb and very attractive, strong all-round example of this very famous Beatles cover, one that will prove very difficult to find much better. This beautiful item should please most-all collectors.

The Inner Sleeve 1: EXCELLENT(+): firstly, both these black unlined inners are the same format. They have a single window hole, the back being solid. They are made with soft, thin, fairly matt and very fragile paper and are massively prone to tearing, creasing splits, and wooliness. Rarely seen intact and avoiding considerable damage. The first one is in great shape with any creasing minimal with a very near perfect window circle. This has no tears and amazingly, all edges are unsplit with no obvious repairs. A little mild crinkle is near impossible to avoid, any here very mild and the light test of the edges held to direct light, reveals barely any traces of wooliness – the fragile edges appear strong and devoid of any significant weakening. Even the top entrance is sharp and mainly crisp. The previous owner so fussy, he put the records inside a polylined alternative cover and then double protected inside a black thick card cover for ultimate protection of the records that were stored outside the cover separately. I can only tip-my-hat to his due care and attention for preserving all parts of this cover for all the time he had it – which was considerable.

The Inner Sleeve 2: EXCELLENT: almost the same in all respect with just a tad more creasing but still only light in context. A tiny small central split on the bottom edge I very carefully and neatly repaired mainly to stop it opening up further. This almost totally inconspicuous but honesty is always the best policy of course.

The Poster: EXCELLENT(+): a conservative grading for an unmounted and clean poster that also shows few traces of ageing. A large measuring 22.5 x 33.5 inches and printed both sides – lyrics on one and band graphics on the other. Three manufactured folds, two horizontal and one vertical, these are strong and unsplit – any tiny nicks just on the very ends but really, really tiny. Any creasing equally small, faint and few and the edges and corners sharp. Importantly, this carries the same imprint as the cover – Garrod & Lofthouse International – beware of later UK, or even German printed examples being swapped.

George Harrison Portrait Card: EXCELLENT(++): all the pictures are the same format, having a semi-gloss sheen and made with reasonably thin card. Colour density can vary a little from example to example, but all should be pretty similar. Firstly, the back. Clean and still very white and unmounted. Any set-off tiny and faint with no toning. The front is very clean and fresh with any surface marks tiny, few and faint, the odd trace seen critically under light. Any tiny and faint surface creases confined to a couple of the corners but minimal indeed. This is very nice and lack of fingermarks to the very receiving surface a real bonus.

John Lennon Portrait Card: MINT(-): very similar to George, but even better with even fewer traces of any creasing. This is a beauty and practically as made.

Paul McCartney Portrait Card: EXCELLENT(++): again similar to George. A faint set-off line on the back with a very fine semi-thumb crease near the top. Being thin, these bend easily but little to really fault on this one again. Any blemishes are marks very small and faint and again, looks little handled. A tip for any winning bidder: do not handle the printed area as fingermarks are so easily applied and do not remove easy.

Ringo Starr Portrait Card: EXCELLENT(++): some light set-off on the back. The front is superb with next to nothing to fault, my grading probably over-harsh.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: Side One: EXCELLENT(+). A small few very fine and light surface marks seen under light. No penetrating scratches whatsoever and retaining a lovely shine.

Side Two: EXCELLENT(+). Possibly even better, but I will grade the same. A small few very fine and light surface marks seen under light. No penetrating scratches whatsoever and retaining a lovely shine..

Side Three: EXCELLENT(++). Even better. A small few ultra fine and light surface traces seen under light. No penetrating scratches whatsoever and retaining a lovely shine.

Side Four: EXCELLENT(++). Practically the same as side three, arguably better still. A small few ultra fine and light surface traces seen under light. No penetrating scratches whatsoever and retaining a lovely shine.

A superb visual pair that are very clean, intense black and very solidly pressed. A pair with minimal plays on all the evidence. Visually super records that should please most collectors needing a stong excellent mono copy (and quite an early example too).

Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or minuscule sound present on any record.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: Both records play even above their high visual grading with practically nothing to fault. Strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear - sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. Any surface sounds are minimal, ultra brief and gentle and most all plays devoid of any. No pops were noted and just a couple or three ultra faint one-off ticks over the entire duration, an exceptional achievement for a hugely popular mono record. Overall, an exceptional clean pressing for a challenging album that offers immense sound and a world-class production by the legendary producer, George Martin – a copy even good enough for the great man himself to approve of. No pile-driver mono needles have wrecked this copy, the sound is fully focused, precise and sharp throughout and pretty much devoid of any annoying crackle that blights so many. Even the fragile and delicate songs like ‘Blackbird’, ‘Long Long Long’ and the most challenging, ‘Dear Prudence’, play beautifully with little unwanted. The ferociously loud and mind-numbing ‘Helter Skelter’ is simply awesome, here tight and punchy and fully controlled, with the alternative ending to the stereo cut. Few available copies these days will match or outperform this early mono issue I feel sure. This too played on very revealing stereo equipment for which this record was not really designed for. I am certain both records have been played very lightly and generally, with utmost care and probably not for a considerable while until my mandatory play-grade. Both clearly well stored and carefully handled within a non-smoking environment. Nothing spoilt my pleasure when play-grading these classic records. The mono mix offers that unique dynamic presentation of the music and has a distinctively different sound to the stereo version – both being truly essential of course. This set will prove very difficult to find significantly better and merits my highest possible recommendation.

End Piece: At last, a copy of this classic that does it almost perfect justice – I just hope my listing has not been too long. The records give few clues to age and fragility due to it’s mode. All parts look lovely, but not brand new of course (or it would never been sold by it’s previous owner who had become quite attached to it). As stated above, just about enough to remind of what it is, but the sound gives few clues at all. Just a pure wonderful experience to listen too and a rare privilege via the mono format quite this clean. I truly think the ‘Fab Four’ themselves would approve – not a copy to be missed, do not lose this one – ooow, I got blisters on my fingers!!

Now one of the most established sellers on Ebay and still offering the finest and most accurately described and graded records I can find. I pride myself on offering a variety of genres to keep my site as interesting as possible. I will rarely offer any record that falls below a true Excellent grading, unless its of a certain rarity which will justify offering a lesser grade. I try, to the best of my ability to describe as accurately and as honesty as I can all items I offer for sale with all the relevant information I can think of to help any potential bidder and collector. You may notice I only submit records sparingly on Ebay - on average ONEADAY, a couple more at weekends if time permits, hence the name - time rarely allows for more as I Play-Grade virtually every record I offer in their entirety, not just bits to guess a grade - visuals alone do not always tell a true or full story. I will mention any defects or flaws no matter how small that I notice to be fair as possible to any interested collector – I am very fussy and my buyers have the right to be too. Every record I offer, whether it be a common or rare item deserves the same respect as far as I am concerned and will be treated the same - just because an item is rare does not always mean its good. I get just as much pleasure offering a relatively common record in stunning near mint condition as the real rare items. All the pictures I use for your guidance are taken with a digital camera or scanned - they are NOT improved, cleaned-up or made better looking than they are with camera trickery or enhancing with digital programmes. What you see is what you get and scanned labels will give a more accurate representation of the genuine colour than flash photography where light is variable. I cannot guarantee total accuracy for colours however but most will be very close. If any picture I take looks more flattering than the actual item for any reason, I will clearly state the fact in the advert and vice-versa. I hope the item below is to your liking - any questions can be emailed and I will do my very best to answer you. I am enthusiastic, and have a fair degree of knowledge about many genres and I promise quality items - bid with confidence - excellence comes as standard and so does Near Mint regularly. Please assume all records I offer have NO jumps, sticks, warps or writing on covers or labels unless clearly stated to the contrary. Thanks for your interest and Good luck – MIKE.

Equipment Used for Play-Grading: I now play-grade ALL the records I offer (unless clearly stated to the contrary) on the following equipment:

Deck: Linn LP12/Hercules/Cirkus with Ittok Mk II arm and Ortofon Rondo Red moving coil cartridge (tracks at 2 grams). Amps: Naim Nait 5i with Project USB phono stage and Chord interconnects. Speakers: B&W 704 Floorstanding 3-way Monitors (bi-wired with QED Silver terminated cable). All records I offer on Ebay are cleaned on a professional VPI-17 vacuum machine before play-grading for the cleanest and best possible sound and will include a brand new lined inner and protective cover too. Pictures taken with a Nikon D5000 SLR Digital Camera.

PACKING - THIS IS WHAT YOU GET.

What You Get: To confirm to the strict Ebay rules on shipping, I must now send ALL my packets ‘Signed-For’ with NO exceptions. Both buyers and sellers want their packets to have a safer journey and this is not a bad thing.

I now offer the fastest possible posting, often the very next day after payment is received or within two to three days maximum (unless on holiday). I only use FIRST-CLASS Mail. The record’s cover will be placed within a BRAND NEW soft protective sleeve and the actual record will be professionally cleaned on my new VPI-17 Pro vacuum system to give ultimate clean grooves and playing surfaces and the best possible looks and ultimate sound quality. You will NOT get tired, dull looking, dust infested records inside worn and foggy covers with tatty inners from this seller and that’s a promise and guarantee. All records are posted in professional boxes (NOT Mailers, these do not offer any real protection). The record(s) are REMOVED from their main cover to avoid edge splits and placed within a brand new polylined inner. The record’s original inner will be included if available. The boxes are then reinforced with at least TWO, ULTRA THICK stiffeners for maximum extra protection – these are FOUR TIMES thicker than commercial stiffeners and are custom-made for oneadayrecords. Really rare and expensive albums will even be Double Boxed if deemed necessary and possible. When larger boxes are used, the thick record and stiffener ‘sandwich’ is then thickly embedded into bubble-wrap to bulk out the record inside the box to centre the item inside to reduce the risk of damage still further. Printed address labels are used for clarity as well as a sender label. Customers requests or special needs for P&P will be respected if at all possible but ‘Signed-For’ posting is NOT an option anymore. I do not profit on posting and the cost of this lavish packing is NOT even charged for, I offer probably the best-value and safest shipping possible for ultimate confidence. The boxes and ultra thick double-wall stiffeners and bubble wrap make a near impregnable fortress for safe shipping and this is used inland and overseas for ALL my records, not just the rare and expensive. I will invoice any winning bidder as soon as possible after the auction ends. My ‘loss’ or ‘damage rate’ is less than one in two thousand based on over 7,000+ items sold in nearly 10 years of Ebay trading and I consider that pretty exceptional. The only damage rate acceptable for this seller is ZERO and I think my packets will offer just that. It would take a vicious postman or postal service to damage these for sure. Even one of these stiffeners cannot be bent by hand, so what chance 3 or 4 inside a box? Oneadayrecords is a MAILER-FREE ZONE. I discount of course for multiple purchases with a maximum of FIVE records per box (one double can sometimes be included subject to total weight). I will not respond to questions on shipping costs as all the details are included here and on ALL of my adverts. Details below:

NOTE: First Time Bidders: Please as me first.

PLEASE NOTE: I now exercise my right to open a dispute after the Ebay rule of FOUR days if no payment is received. I will then cancel the dispute to end the, again after the mandatory FOUR days and then offer the item to the runner-up or relist. The non-payer will also be blocked from my Ebay site and they take the Ebay consequences (a strike or removal from the system). Small businesses need prompt payment to trade and these strict rules WILL be applied.

SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT necessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.
