THE BEATLES Yellow Submarine (Apple PCS 7070) RAREST Red Line 1/T 1/R UK 1st Pressing MINT
RAREST very first UK pressing of The Beatles` original soundtrack to "Yellow Submarine", released on Apple Records (January 1969).
In very close to perfect condition, this copy comes from a high-quality, first-owner collection we recently acquired.
"It'll do for the film, was John Lennon's wry summation of every subgenius Beatles session around the time the band was working on the music for Yellow Submarine, a project designed to fulfill a contractual obligation. When the lads realized that they didn't have enough songs for a respectable album side, even after recycling "Yellow Submarine" and "All You Need Is Love," George Harrison wrote "Only A Northern Song" in an hour and the job was done. Side Two consisted of George Martin's orchestral arrangements. To everyone's surprise, the animated movie, released in 1968, actually turned out to be quite good." - Anthony Decurtis/Rolling Stone, October 28, 1999.

MINT- COVER in near-perfect condition. Please see photos for details.
- Near-perfect original front-laminated sleeve that still retains its full original shine and lustre.
- Absolutely minimal record imprint on the front cover, from storage.
- The back cover features the impossibly rare "White Album" review by Derek Taylor, framed in red ink, as found only on the very first pressings.
- Unlaminated tri-fold flipback back cover "Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd."
- Also includes the original matt-black Apple Records inner sleeve in undamaged EX++ condition.
MINT- RECORD, near-perfect.
- Pristine vinyl on both sides, with impeccable audio reproduction throughout.
- The record was bought in 1969 and has remained stored away for over 45 years. It has been played three or four times.
- Apart from a few of the lightest paper scuffs (from sleeve removal), the record has practically no signs of previous play.
- Original UK first pressing Apple Records labels with "Sold in U.K. subject to resale price conditions" affix.
- Labels in near-perfect condition, except for a single, light spindle line on Side One, and two or three light spindle lines on Side Two.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "YEX 715-1" and "YEX 716-1".
- Mothers/Stampers: "1 / T" on Side One and "1 / R" on Side Two.
The above stamper information tells us the following: While Side One was from the first 2400-2700 copies of "Yellow Submarine" pressed, Side Two is from the second batch, i.e. from the extremely early 300-600 series!
- This record is hereby fully certified to be an original, very first UK pressing of "Yellow Submarine", released in January 1969.
