THE BEATLES - Yesterday.. And Today: "Second State - Butcher Cover" From 1966.
Second state covers become more rare as more people transform them into third state. And it’s all about the cover. The record and sleeve can always be upgraded as they are interchangeable. This sleeve has a 2” tear and the vinyl plays through (tested 👍)but does exhibit some ugly scratches. Again you are paying for the cover. Since I have owned this copy, ( I bought it years ago on Heritage) it has always remained with the vinyl and sleeve not inserted into the actual record cover. This is to protect the cover from slowing the vinyl to break through the side edges. As you can see in the photos, there is no break through, just nice white paper. Well that’s the good news. The album was obviously once owned by Ede Pannullo as she used a blue magic marker to write her name on the back cover. She made an attempt to write her name on the front top left, but the gloss of the label didn’t provide a good surface for her marker. You can barely see it and you could possibly miss this, so I like to point it out. The back cover exhibits some staining/foxing along the bottom and the opening side edge. Improper storage, possibly a basement. The bottom left front corner has a small piece (1/4”) torn off. More than likely for additional proof that the original Butcher Cover exists beneath. In person I can see Ringos hair line and even facial features. It’s the coolest piece of rock n roll history I own and I’m finally willing to part with it. I’ve shipped hundreds of LPs and this will arrive unharmed as it will be packaged with great care. There is another cardboard sleeve that the vinyl will ship in. Again, the cover will ship with nothing inside to keep it nice.
The A1 in the title is for my inventory.
