Description
Offered here is one of THE ultimate Beatles rarities- their first lp- Please Please Me, on the old parlophone black and gold label design. This was only made for a few months, and is FAR rarer than the yellow/black pressings that were made from later 1963 all the way til the late sixties!
Whilst this copy has certainly seen some action, it is by no means trashed, and is still a very enjoyable listen. If it were a quiet classical record, I've no doubt the general array of surface marks would spoil the listening pleasure, but as this is a well cut, LOUD rock n roll record on heavyweight vinyl, there is no real problem beyond the odd light click and a general VERY LIGHT crackle way under the music.
I guess the visual grade must be G+ or Vg-, but that grade belies the amount of audio pleasure this record gives.
The EJ DAY sleeve matches the record, condition wise- there are no split seams or major tears, but there is a bit of delamination along the edges, an initial on the back, and a light, probably removable name on the front. The pictures tell the story better than I can- no major issues, just general wear on a sleeve that is pushing fifty years old! (sorry to all you 45 year olds out there!)
The detailed stuff:
m/t tax code, xex 421/2-1n stampers
side 1 : GR
side 2: GD
Both sides have 'Dick James' Publishing credits, no Northern Songs credits on any tracks.
good luck if deciding to bid!
