THE BEATLES

BEATLES VI

1966 UK EXPORT LP

KT TAX CODE

PARLOPHONE CPCS 104 Stereo

RARE

Black & Yellow label with “The Gramophone Co. Ltd.” perimeter print, No “Sold in the UK” text in label. Tracing-paper-lined “Use Emitex” die-cut inner sleeve.

Matrix numbers:

Side 1: YEEX 112-A15;

Side 2: ST-2-2451 (Scored out) YEEX 113-A15.

This copy of the UK export album has the embossed “KT” tax code on both sides of the label, Near the spindle hole. This is rare and unusual because the code was used to signify which tax bracket the record would be set at for sales within the UK. This LP was made for export sale OUTWITH THE UK and was not liable for UK tax. Therefore, the code should have never been in the label of this album.

Label: Parlophone

Catalogue No: CPCS 104 Stereo

Grade: Vinyl - Very Good

Grade: Sleeve - Fair / Good

(Graded as per Rare Record Price Guide)

The front laminated flip back sleeve is in fair/good condition.

The front of the sleeve has laminate creasing and light ink marks. The back of the sleeve has age and handling discolouration, a name stencilled in ink. Some flip back damage at the bottom where approx 5” of the flipback is missing. There is edge and spine wear, some which has penetrated the laminate . See photos.

The record are in very good condition.

I have played tested the LP both sides & it plays through with some background crackle in quieter passages and in between tracks. Some clicking on the track “Dizzy Miss Lizzy” on Side 2. Physically the record shows surface scuffs / marks, a couple of marks can be felt. Evident under strong light.

The label has the “KT” tax code. This should not be on an export LP, so very unusual. Some spindle wear around the hole. See photos.

Grading:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
