• INSANELY RARE NEAR MINT MONO 1966 US ORIGINAL WHITE LABEL PROMO on the TRIBE label (see photo) This promo copy includes the "Bell Sound" script mastering stamped in the dead wax ( see photo). Stock copies are on the teal colored Tribe label not white like this one. Radio Station DJ pressings are the 1st presses from the stampers and are usually pressed on superior thick non-flexible vinyl made to withstand the heavier use from radio play. There may have only been a few hundred or so of these pressings made in 1966 for radio use and they sound far superior to any other pressings. The MONO punch of the promo vinyl is incredible. The hand written matrix numbers in the dead wax are AHS 1461 -1 on side one and AHS 1462-1 on side two indicating that it was manufactured from the first press masters. This copy is from my personal collection.

Sir Douglas Quintet was a rock band active in the mid-1960s and 1970s, with reunions amongst various members in the 1980s and 1990s. Despite their British-sounding name, they came out of San Antonio, Texas. With their first hits, they were acclaimed in their home state. However, once their career was established (subsequent to working with Texas record-producer Huey Meaux), the band relocated to the West Coast. Their move coincided with the burgeoning San Francisco psychedelic rock scene of the mid-1960s to early 1970s.[1] Overall, the Quintet were exponents of good-times music with strong roots in blues and Texas-regional traditions.

Doug Sahm, a veteran of the professional music scene who first sang on the radio at the age of five, formed the Quintet (first called simply 'Sir Douglas') in 1964 with longtime friend Augie Meyers and the other original members Jack Barber, Frank Morin and Johnny Perez. Sahm had started out in the country music scene, and had even played (at age eleven) on-stage with Hank Williams, Sr., during the latter's final performance. Sahm went on to play in blues clubs in his teenage years and he had gained experience as a band leader.
The Quintet is perhaps best known for the 1965 hit single "She's About a Mover" written by Doug Sahm. The song has a 12-bar blues structure. "She's About a Mover" is very well known, and was once named the number one 'Texas' song by Texas Monthly. With a Vox Continental organ riff provided by Augie Meyers and soulful vocals from Doug Sahm, and lead singer guitarist Sahm, the track has a Tex-Mex sound. The regional smash became a breakaway hit, and the recording was used in the soundtracks of the films "Echo Park" (1986), "American Boyfriends" (1989), "The Doors" (1991), "Riding in Cars with Boys" (2001), "Sorority Boys" (2002), and "Beautiful Darling: (2010).[6] The Quintet's recordings were used as well in the soundtracks of other films, such as Cisco Pike and An Officer and a Gentleman.
In addition to "She's About a Mover," the band is known for its songs "Mendocino," (1968) "Can You Dig My Vibrations?" (1968) and "Dynamite Woman" (1969). "Mendocino" was released in December 1968, and reached No. 27 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 by early 1969, spending 15 weeks in the chart. It was more successful in Europe selling over three million copies there.[8] The track was featured in the generally highly regarded film High Fidelity, starring John Cusack and Jack Black.[9] Having made considerable musical impact, the Quintet at one point went on to share the same European bill as the Beach Boys and the Rolling Stones(wikipedia).

Record Condition: Side 1 & 2: Near Mint Minus ...the super thick non-flexible vinyl has just a couple of light handling paper sleeve slide marks when held to sun light. The pristine white TRIBE labels are very clean with no wear, stains, stickers, writing or tears (See photos). The vinyl comes protected by the original London mono custom paper inner sleeve (see photo). This is the keeper copy you have been waiting for.

Cover/Jacket Condition: Very Good+ ...the cover is clean with light wear (see photos). The spine and seams are intact and sharp with wear mostly at the corners (see photos).

Vinyl Grading Policy:

• All records and jackets are visually graded unless noted otherwise. CAUTION: Please be aware that the play grade may differ from the visual grade. If you want me to play a particular song and give you an assessment of background noise, etc. Please email me. We all have records that look worn but play great and vice versa. It is not possible to play as well as visually grade each LP listed. I TRY TO GRADE CONSERVATIVELY under the guidelines on this page, which generally follow the GOLDMINE standards. Although I try to be conscientious as a grader, there is the possibility that something could slip by me. In the event an item is not as described, REST ASSURED I will always offer a money back guarantee for purchase price of the item if returned safe and secure and requested within seven days of receipt.
• Mint = A mint item must be absolutely perfect. Certainly never been played if not still sealed. This would be an item where it was opened but not played maybe just to check the label variation.
• Near Mint = The record shows no obvious signs of wear. The vinyl should show no wear from playing only the slightest of paper scuffs are acceptable. The jacket should look as if you just got it home from a new record store and removed the shrink-wrap.
• Near Mint-/Very Good++ = The record or cover is clearly better than VG+ but not Near Mint. There should be some signs that the vinyl was played infrequently and otherwise handled P)ï¿&frac1fr ac)ïILesinquestc1fr acprevious owner who took excellent care of it. Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have light scuffs and or very minor light%2ïILesinquestc1fr aciuml;ILesinquestc1fr aciuml;ILesinquestc1fr aciuml;ILesinquestc1fr acs that do not affect the listener experience at all. The label and spindle hole will be without flaws other than the lightest of spindle trails from being played only a few times if at all. Although there may be some evidence of seam/spine wear, seam splits are not permitted for this grade. The jacket may be marked as a cut out by a drill hole, saw mark, cut corner or punch hole. I will try to list any cover flaws of significance.
• Very Good+ = This is equivalent of the VG+ grade in Goldmine. The record will show signs that the vinyl was played but taken care of. Record surfaces will show signs of wear including some light scratches/scuffs that do not significantly affect the listener experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Spindle holes will have some wear but not be enlarged or damaged in any way. The cover will have general wear/ring wear but not to the extent that it materially impairs enjoyment of the picture cover. Slight seam splits are OK for this grade. Again I will try to list any cover flaws of significance.
• Very Good = Unless it is a rare collectible, I usually will not sell records where both the cover and vinyl are below a VG+ grade PERIOD. This grade is included since some times there may be either a cover or record that the flaws in VG+ grade above are more pronounced but the other part of the package is of a higher grade. If it is the vinyl I will play grade it to be sure that the listener can still enjoy the music.

If requested within five days of receipt, I will refund your full purchase price (excluding refund of shipping costs) upon return of the item if you are not satisfied, period. If you want protection related to lost or damaged shipments you must insure your winnings.
