The Betterdays (named after an American blues song by Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee) were a 60s R &B/Mod group that originated in Plymouth, UK. They were a big live attraction in the West Country during the mid-60s. The ‘A’ side has strong vocals and good mouth organ, whilst on the flip side, is a frantic version of Bo Diddley ’s Here ‘Tis. Undoubtedly talented they deserved to do better but they suffered from being stuck out in the West Country, from a lack of strong management and from their main songwriter Bob Pitcher ’s ill health at the time.
This is a great copy of a very rare and collectable R&B/Mod single! You don’t often come across one of these!
The single is on Polydor Records, BM 56024. Matrix side one: BM56024 A//1. Matrix side two: BM56024 B//1.
Released in 1965. UK pressing.
Condition: (as Record Collector's grading system. If I see a mark it will be mentioned however light/small, apart from the usual very light paper scuffs/marks - usually caused by record being removed from the inner sleeve, which appear on nearly all old records and which are only visible under strong light)
Vinyl side 1: excellent (has a few very light superficial marks, hardly noticeable, that do not affect the audio in any way, plays without fault).
Vinyl side 2: excellent (has a few very light superficial marks, hardly noticeable, that do not affect the audio in any way, plays without fault).
Comes in a Polydor company sleeve.
The record plays like new with no jumps, skips or clicks and hardly a crackle to be heard.
I have tried to give my honest opinion as to the condition. I will give a complete refund to the buyer if they are not happy with the record.

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM:
MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
