Several members of The Birds grew up in the same neighbourhood in Yiewsley, west London, and began playing together in 1964, while still in their teens. At first they called themselves the Thunderbirds, they started out playing local clubs and their community centre, but they soon expaned to a larger club circuit. They were hired to play on the same bil as Chris Farlowe, but his back-up band were also cllaed the Thunderbirds, so they shortned they name to The Birds.
The Birds were sadley short lived only releasing three singles under DECCA and one on Reaction. The USA band The Byrds hit the UK with their single Mr Tamboiurine Man. The Birds manager Leo de Clerck took legal action to prevent them using the same name, the action failed, amid a flurry of national press and televison coverage. So The Birds were no more, they went on to record one single on the Reaction label calling themselves The Birds Birds, to distinguish themsleves from the USA band, did a few performaces, but then in 1967 the group disbanded.
The vinyl is in EX condition, gleaming with all it's original shine and lustre!, I have played both sides (very carefully!) and both sides play MINT-!!!!, playing with super crisp clear clarity, amazing clean fresh Mono sound!, STUNNING! and two great great tracks, barely heard anywhere!
The lovely deep blue Decca labels' are in EX+ condition!, lovely and clean and fresh, no scuffs, number '11' is written on side A, small and not intrusive, side B - no unwanted writing, the centre spindle hole shows minimal wear
The vinyl is housed in it's original 1965 DECCA paper sleeve and in VG+++ condition, no unwanted writing and no seam splits, only a little creased and ruffled
