Description
Beautiful copy of the rare 1943 Brunswick Collectors’ Series 78rpm album set of the Boswell Sisters, Album no. B-1003. Features many of their classic records from the 30s, some featuring top swing-era players like the Dorseys, and the great Joe Venuti and Eddie Lang. Truly glorious jazz from the early swing era, the inspirations for the Andrews Sisters, who were a really whitewashed and watered-down version of the genuine article. Anyhow this is one of the rarest of the Brunswick Collectors’ Series sets, almost impossible to find complete and in good condition. This is a very nice copy. All four discs are in beautiful shape. I would grade them all at about E or E- with some very light superficial marks here and there, except for the second disc, with Roll On Mississippi and Shout Sister Shout, which seems to have been played more than the others and had a slight bit more wear, but still V+. They all play just beautifully with all the magic presence of the original Brunswick pressings. The cover is also in exceptionally good shape. The velvet covering is worn a little in spots but still quite well intact with its texture and sheen. Some corner wear and worn spots but not bad at all. The spine is perfectly intact and the binding strong. Really a beautiful copy of this rare set.
The songs included are:
When I Take my Sugar to Tea
Wha’ Ja Do to Me?
Roll on, Mississippi, Roll on
Shout, Sister, Shout
Shine On, Harvest Moon
Herbie Jeebies
River, Stay Away from my Door
It’s the Girl
