BUZZCOCKS - LIVE AT THE ROXY - RARE DELETED VINYL - GATEFOLD SLEEVE.
After reading an NME review of the Sex Pistols' first performance, Pete Shelley and Howard Devoto riding high on said review travelled to London to see the band at High Wycombe in February 1976.
Both were impressed by what they witnessed and later arranged for the Sex Pistols to come and perform at the Lesser Free Trade Hall in Manchester, The Buzzcocks had intended to play at this concert, but band members dropped out, and Shelley and Devoto were unable to recruit suitable replacements in time for the gig so they never got to perform.
Once they had recruited new bass guitarist Steve Diggle and drummer John Maher they made good on the opportunity opening for the Sex Pistols at the Pistols second Manchester concert in July 1976.
The Sex Pistols returned the favour and In September 1976 the Buzzcocks travelled to London to perform at the two-day 100 club punk festival and by the end of the year had recorded and released Spiral Scratch on their own New Hormones label, making them one of the first punk groups to establish an Independent Label.
The Buzzcocks went on to become one of the most successful of all the early punk bands and this early classic performance at the famous Roxy club captures the electric energy of the original band.
Album is pressed on quality vinyl and housed in a great gatefold sleeve, It's a must have album for any serious Buzzcocks or Punk rock music record collector.
