THE CHEROKEES
This Melbourne-based band was formed in 1961 by former Chessmen Billy Dale and Barry Windley. They were managed by Johnny Chester.
They set out as an instrumental band playing Shadows' covers. By the beat era they'd progressed onto Beatles' covers. They appeared regularly on the 'Go!' show and after a couple of 45s for W&G, ended up recording on the 'Go!!' label.
Their 1966 EP included three 45 cuts:- That's If You Want Me, Angels Listened In and Only If You Care and I Can Tell, which along with the three aforementioned songs, was later included on their Oh Monah album.
By their demise in 1968 they were a sorta pop-jug band...(Fuzz Acid & Flowers)
