THE CHILDREN: REBIRTH

This is one great US psych album on the Cinema label with a different mix and way cooler gatefold coverart than the later Atco version. Many great great tracks and the number Beautiful is simply beautiful. An underground album that is also included in the Acid Archieves:

"This co-ed soft psych album (produced by Lelan Rogers) is one of those records that seems like it’s going to be great, but falls a bit short. Even on the

songs that “rock,” it’s all very twee, with flutes,harpsichords, falsetto backing vocals, wimpy vocals from the guy (as usual, they should have let the

woman sing all of the songs), and occasional garish orchestration. The arrangements are certainly creative and elaborate, though word has it that the

original mix is more colourful than the more commonly available version. “Sitting on a Flower,” which sports unexpected chord changes and punchier guitar than the rest of the album, and the long, drony “Pictorial” are probably the best songs. Mono stock copies may not exist. The band had an excellent non-LP 45 in a different style from the LP and were related to legendary garage bands the Mind's Eye, Argyles and Stoics." 

The cover is in a very nice VG++ condition, solid spine no ringwear, but unfortunately some wear on the top seam. The LP looks VG++ and plays excellent.

GRADING

There is nothing more irritating than buying an LP which is overgraded (about half of the LPs I have bought via Ebay has been overgraded.) so I try to grade as accurate as possible both visual and (mostly) audible and describe any flaws on the record. I grade under a 100W light bulb or sunlight. For playgrading I use my Gyro Deck turntable fitted with a Benz Micro MC pick up. If there is any dissatisfaction with any LP there is off course a moneyback warranty.

M-: Perfect copy, the copy that looks like it was bought yesterday and only have been played a few times.

EX: This has been played but still a very satisfying copy that would please most collectors. No scratches or coverwear, LP plays without any problem, as good as perfect in fact many dealers M- is what I would call EX       

VG++: This copy has been played and cover has some wear but still a very good copy that should satisfy most people except the MINT puritans

VG+: This is a played copy, plays with some clicks and background noise. But still the music should be the central part. Cover has ring wear but still not a torn cover or anything.

VG: This is a more used copy with some scratches and clicks, no stops or skips though, cover has heavy wear.
