THE CLASH - CAPITOL RADIO - New Musical Express Promotional EP

Ultra Rare Original 1977 - Not a Reissue!

Another hyper-rare item from my collection. 29 years ago in 1977, readers of the weekly British music newspaper New Musical Express were offered the chance to obtain a copy of the promotional EP, 'Capitol Radio' b/w 'Listen' by the then fast-emerging punk rock band, the Clash. Well, I was one of those lucky NME readers and I have had the record ever since. I'll not mislead you, it has been played, but not for at least 20 years (as I haven't had a record deck in all that time!).

As to condition, the record bears the surface markings you would expect of a 29 year old used single but to my recollection, it always played well. I simply have no means of telling any more. I cannot see what I would describe as any serious scratches which are likely to cause the dreaded clicks. The single has one unusual flaw in that at the very edge of the record there is a single very slight bend, of less than a centimeter, which I don't believe would affect the playing and could probably be corrected easily over a little slightly warm air. The labels are immaculate and the sleeve is in very good condition, with no marks, tears or other damage. I mention all of this now as I am not in the business of selling records and I want to be thoroughly honest and upfront about it. I was offered £50 for this record 25 years ago - I should have taken it, of course, but good copies of 'Capitol Radio' still go for considerably more than that - even now. If you're a fan of the Clash, this is probably the most essential collector's item.

I've given it what I consider a very conservative starting price - but please go for it now. If it doesn't sell, I shall simply put it in back in the box it has been stored in and keep it.......
