UK FIRST/EARLY PRESSING TRIPLE VINYL LP WITH LYRIC INNER, ORIGINAL WHITE INNER SLEEVES AND ORIGINAL STICKER ON FRONT. Of all the original pressings we have seen of this album, all sides seem to have a mix-match of matrix numbers, we have never seen straight run of numbers on any of them. We suspect that so many were pressed prior to release that matrix/mothers/stampers were used at random to create the first pressing run. Essentially, first issues only included a printed insert with the catalog number FSLN 1, titled "The Armagideon Times No. 3" and featuring lyrics, credits and cartoons by Steve Bell. Track D7 'Blowing In The Guns Of Brixton' Vocals – Maria Gallagher: is listed on "The Armagideon Times No. 3" insert but not on the label or rear sleeve.
One of the great ironies of punk (the other being Johnny Rotten later appearing onUK television butter adverts, Oh yeah, still proving that everyone's been swindled I suppose...) is The Clash's TRIPLE ALBUM - yep - after an (admittedly brilliant) double album, they release a triple album Everything about the ethos of the three minute single tossed out of the window in one go when the kings of punk joined the likes of their dinosaur 'enemies' - only jazz artists such as Keith Jarrett, or prog-rock bands like Yes and Emerson, Lake and Palmer made triple albums...and they were reviled for it by the punks...and off in the distance were the lucrative days of the CD box set! As usual, inside every double and triple album, there is usually a really great single album waiting to get out, and that holds true for Sandinista! - there are enough gems spread across six sides to make up for the dross. You can't really live without it.
MATRIX NUMBERS IN RUN-OFF GROOVES: FSLN 1 A-3 / Timtom FSLN-1 B-4 / FSLN 1 C-3 / FSLN-1 D2 / FSLN-1-E6 / FSLN-1-F6
SLEEVE: VERY GOOD BUT DOES HAVE CORNER, SHELF AND EDGE WEAR, SOME CREASING, MINOR NICKS ON EDGES. PEN MARK ON INSIDE OF SLEEVE DATED 18/4/81. INNER SLEEVES ARE VERY GOOD+. INSERT IS EXCELLENT MINUS.
DISC: EXCELLENT MINUS. NO MARKS OR SCRATCHES AND NO NOTICEABLE SPINDLE WEAR. CLEAN LABELS BOTH SIDES. A SPLENDID PLAYING COPY WITH SUPERB AUDIO. NO SKIPS OR JUMPS, NO NOTICEABLE GROOVE WEAR, AND NO DETRIMENTAL SURFACE NOISES
