Rca LSC-2398 – SD 1s/1s -
Recommended by TAS
This is the renowned Mohr/Layton recording of Kondrashin at baton over the RCA Victor Symphony Orchestra, playing Kabalevsky's THE COMEDIANS, Op. 26. (Also, Khachaturian's MASQUERADE SUITE.)
The resulting sonics, make no mistake, offer up some of the most colorful symphonic palettes you will ever hear, which is why this disc has long been rated on the TAS list as one of the best recordings of all time in the classical category.
This copy of LSC-2398 is a first stamper to boot – very rare indeed – here in a cover without fault, record within should play near mint.
(Has two very light cueing errors right upfront on side 1 that do not sound, as they never penetrated down into the grooves where the music resides.)
Entirely worthy of the finest LP library. Not to be missed, and rare indeed.
For other fine records, TAS picks and hard-to-finds, please see my complete list of offerings here on eBay.
Shipping and handling is $5 for up to 5 LPs shipped within the States. Internationally, $15 via airmail for the first LP, $3 each thereafter. (Canada is half that.) Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $6, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail. Note, too, boxed sets of LPs require more postage.
