THE COMMON PEOPLE - Of The People / By The People / For The People From The Common People lp (CAPITOL ST-266) (VG+/vg)

·      BAND: US Psych-Rock band from Los Angeles, CA circa 67/71, they were scheduled to have David Axelrod produce their LP, but midway through, Axelrod had to leave the sessions because his wife was in a car crash. This was probably a good thing since Axelrod had his normal plans to change the band’s songs significantly, but this never came to be.  Without his involvement, Capitol failed to promote it and this LP is quite scarce.

·      TOTAL OUTPUT: Twelve singles (1968) and two LP’s (68/71).

·      PRESSING: First US Pressing, (Los Angeles) 1968.

·      LABEL: Capitol (Green with Purple Target Symbol and black lettering) (ST-266)

·      MATRIX RUNOUT NUMBERS (Etched):  A: (ST-1-266-H-3 1 ?) B: (ST-2-266-H-3 1 ?)

·      CONDITION: FRONT COVER: VG (Moderate to heavy ring-wear. Top seam was completely split and has been taped for a long time. Bottom seam has heavy wear and no splits. Spine has moderate wear and lettering is slightly impacted.  There is a drill hole in the bottom right portion corner of the cover.

·      CONDITION: BACK COVER: VG+ (Less visible ring wear, and has some writing in pen, and drill hole.)

·      CONDITION: DUST JACKET SLEEVE: Generic.

·      CONDITION: VINYL: Plays with minimal surface noise on quiet passages and has overall audio grade of VG+.

NOTE: My LP’s are visually graded with the exception of two sound samples from the first songs on each side which can be heard with the links provided below.

 Hi folks, this is Velvetfogg, founder of the U-SPACES music collective which ran from 1997 to 2020 on Yahoogroups.  I try to list records on Sundays, some Auction and some Buy It Now.

GRADING SCALE:

NM/M: Played once or twice. No visible surface or playback wear.

EX: Has been played but has no scratches, minimal to no wear and plays without surface noise.

EX- Plays without surface noise, but might have a few visible minor scratches.

VG++: May have a few surface scratches or a little wear, but plays nicely with only minimal surface noise and clicks.

VG+: "Typical used record".  A little wear, a few minor (light) scratches, but plays well. Surface noise may be more present during soft passages. No Skips

VG: More wear and significant surface noise. Deeper scratches. May have a skip.

G: Significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear. (Beat up record!) May have skips.

(All LP’s are visually-graded with sound samples being provided for the first song on each side.)

LP’s ship via USPS Priority Mail Cubic (domestic) or USPS First Class International. Professional cardboard 45 mailers will be used with proper bubble packing.

Priority Shipping is available for higher priced international items upon request and includes insurance but is expensive. (For international orders, please research these costs in your country prior to bidding.
