UNCLE KIRBY FROM BRAZIL / SPECULATION ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by THE COUNTDOWN 5 produced by THE COUNT DOWN FIVE for PEDDLER PUB. Co BMI. Original US pressing on CINEMA label (C-10), from 1968. Funky garage psych double-sider from Galveston Texas. Both sides are superb with UNCLE KIRBY (FROM BRAZIL) dominated by fuzz distortions / hard drums and a frantic guitar 'n' bongo break midway. Primitive and baroque with addictive rhythms / clever tempo changes / intelligent vocals and punky screams. SPECULATION has a waltz tempo with lots more psych guitar and organ riffing. Great for DJs. Both sides have been comped: Texas Flashbacks Vol 1 / Nowsounds Groove-In Top Ten Texas Rock Bands / Fuzz Flaykes & Shakes Vol. 1 - 60 Miles High / Acid Visions 10 etc etc. Tres cool 7inch from this the ex house band for the legendary Bamboo Hut and later, the Grass Menagerie Galveston beach club (both summer destinations for hip college kids from all over the States). A neat example of psychedelic Americana that could also appeal to lovers of the Bonehead Crunchers series. Seldom comes up for sale in Europe (especially in top condition overall, like our item :) Rare 45!!!

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG freakbeat psychedelia TX punk

Vinyl is closer to shiny M- condition overall regardless of a few hairlines / faint scuffs from storage. One, mini white pressing mark to "Speculation" side. Light surface noises but no doubt due to the actual pressing quality. Booming production sound. Item taken from an unplayed deadstock of records and played a few times before the recording of the soundclip. Some rub marks / ink fading with faint "x" notation to one side of label. Item will be housed in a brand new poly lined inner with white card sleeve. Rare 45!!!
