THERE ARE NO MONO FIRST PRESSINGS OF THIS TITLE; NAMELY, THE GERMANS HAD ABANDONED MONO FORMAT ALMOST TWO YEARS AHEAD OF THE AMERICANS AND FIVE YEARS AHEAD OF THE BRITISH (THE LAST GERMAN MONO RELEASE WAS IN 1965); SO RARE IS THIS RELEASE THAN NOT EVEN BOOTLEGS EXISTED UNTIL AROUND 2005. THE ALBUM WAS FINALLY REISSUED FOR GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION IN MONO-ONLY FORMAT IN 2013. This is an incredible piece of music history unknown to almost entire American record-buying public. very comparable to the early Who,  Small Faces and Rolling Stones and is at the top of the 60's psychedelic/mod/garage heap. The Creation were the first to use the violin bow on the guitar, as well as pioneering other musical endeavors such as feedback before Jimi Hendrix refined and mastered the art of it and even supposedly used the baked potato against the strings(that legend has it that it was eaten afterward).

The Creation had surprisingly little success, given the quality of these mid-60s sides. Fans of the early mod-styled Who will find The Creation in the same league, with the brashness of their guitar-and-drums comparing favorably to immortal singles like "I Can't Explain" and "I Can See for Miles." One need look no further than "Making Time," which lent its punchy intro and Daltrey-esque vocal to the film "Rushmore." No surprise that the Creation had such a gutsy recorded sound, given that Shel Talmy produced. The instrumental "Sylvette," which borrows its melodic center from "Too Many Fish in the Ocean" is another raving winner.

This is the ultimate shoulda-been band, with great vocals, powerful guitars and drums, and catchy in-band songwriting. They played garage mod, psych-heavy rock and highly electrified folk with both muscle and melody, and compared well with their contemporaries. One can only assume they were doomed by a confluence of inadequate distribution (they were on the indie Hit Ton label in the UK), line-up changes, and management that couldn't sustain commercial velocity. Listening to their catalog it's nearly impossible to imagine this band wasn't a huge, chart-topping success.

·                               THE RECORDS

 (IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL  AS  NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs -  are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible,  and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new. A FEW MINOR, VISIBLE BUT TOTALLY SUPERFICIAL, SCUFFS NOTED ON SIDE 2.

(b)          The record comes in the original poly-lined “Made in Germany” stock inner sleeve.

(c)           The record is pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl, either.

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       COVER (THIS IS THE ORIGINAL, LAMINATED, GLOSSY COVER):

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Back cover has a three small abrasions/peel-off marks, clumsily repaired with the liquid paper (whiteout) which may be possible to remove  (less than 1.1/2 square inch in size, total)

-        Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 1  (front side) and 3 (back side)

-        Back cover has circular tarnish (grayish, dust-covered sections, which closely follow the contour of the record),  probably caused by friction or by rubbing against other covers during the storage. The tarnish is similar in appearance to a common ring wear, but, UNLIKE ring wear, these grayish areas may be possible to clean up with a minor effort and with a right cleansing solution.  (nothing significant)

-        Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on back side, apparently from aging.

-        Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the seams

-        Cover has two corners slightly worn / dinged  / bent.

-        Cover has three corners slightly worn / dinged (nothing significant)
