Here is my original THE DOORS Self-titled album, in Mono from way back when it came out.
Record VG, surface scratches you can hear in the quieter spots but we had a decent turntable back in the day so this still sounds pretty darned good, maybe even better after a nitty gritty cleaning (or similar) if you have one! Cover VG+ without splits, way better than most of what you will find!
I heard one of the late 180 gram mono reissues, and while there is actually distortion in the master tape on all mono's, original or the audiophile reissue, this one kicks the ASS of the 180 gram album. The "patina" of some scratchiness is vintage and I just played this whole thing (that's important, how an Lp plays should matter to you) on my Luxman w/ Denon 304 MK!! mc cartridge and it tracks nice and sounds good. The vocals are nice and clear, and some of the subtle things on the Crystal Ship for example sound really nice. You might pay a 150 bucks for a much better one, but at this price, being a vintage piece always in a smoke free home, decent mono fidelity, and definitely a better than average cover, I think you will be happy. "The End" in mono is supposedly somehow different than the stereo issue, I don't know what is different about it but I have read that some of the mumbled vocals come through better.
